There might be stiff competition on stage between contestants, but the real battle lies off-stage in the style stakes.
Tonight Tulisa Contostavlos found herself falling out of fashion favour with viewers, thanks to her floor-length monochrome dress.
Fans were not impressed with the look and wasted no time taking to Twitter to express their views, with the majority concluding that Nicole Scherzinger outshone the British star.
Not such a good look: Tulisa Contostavlos lost out to Nicole Scherzinger in the style stakes on tonight's X Factor
Nicole, 34, dazzled in a flowing lace and chiffon dress by Kristian Aadnevik which she teamed with a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood shoes.
The dress boasted a lace top with studded leather detail, before billowing out into a dark olive green skirt with a split at one side.
The former Pussycat Doll made the most of the ensemble by carrying one side of her dress and swishing it around, as she emerged on stage at the start of the show.
Failing to flatter: The floor-length Pucci dress was not a hit with viewers and the outfit didn't showcase her figure as well as other outfits have done
In contrast Tulisa's Pucci ensemble proved to be somewhat underwhelming and fans took to Twitter to give their views on the outfits.
One particularly harsh critic wrote: 'Tulisa my nan called, she wants her curtains back.'
Another posted: 'Looking at Tulisa sat next to Nicole is like Primark next to Prada.'
Showing off the dress to the full effect: The 34-year-old walked out onto the stage with the skirt of her Kristian Aadnevik dress in her hand to show off the split
In height order: Nicole emerged on stage with her boys Jahmene Douglas, James Arthur and Rylan Clark who all made it through to next week's show
Here come the girls: Tulisa was seen holding hands with her contestants Ella Henderson, Lucy Spraggan and Jade Ellis was there too
While Tulisa might well have failed to
impress with her outfit her three girls Ella Henderson, Jade Ellis and
Lucy Spraggan all made it through to next week's show.
Nicole also found herself sitting pretty with Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur also bagging a place.
Rylan Clark, who was found in the
bottom two last week also soared through to next week and celebrating
the achievement by picking up his mentor and running off with her around
And it seems that Nicole was in the mood to celebrate the success of all her group she was later seen heading out to diner at C in another dramatic ensemble.
Over the moon! Nicole jumped into the arms of Rylan after he learned he had made it through to next week's show
Leggy lady: Nicole changed into a different dress, a one-shoulder number, which she attended to dinner at C restaurant
