Uncomfortable meals outdoors could be a thing of the past with a new pair of trousers that also act as table.
The bizarre new Picnic Pants come complete with a special panel that becomes a flat surface to balance your plate on when you sit down.
Created by experimental Italian design company Acquacalda, the item of clothing is made from a special fabric that stretches taut for your TV dinner or barbecue.

Designed to look like denim cropped jeans, the trousers are unlikely to be a fashion hit.
But they could prove useful on days out during the summer months.
They also have a pocket on the outer thigh to hold a drink.
A spokesperson for the company said: 'Picnic pants take advantage of the usual cross-legged position to become a comfortable surface for consumption of a meal outdoors.'
