HOW MUCH WAS WHITNEY WORTH
Though she sold more than 200 million albums – including The Bodyguard soundtrack which she earned $33million from – and singles during her career and commanded $10million per movie, Whitney Houston was said to have been on the verge of bankruptcy when she died.
A messy divorce with Bobby Brown, addictions to alcohol and drugs are all said to have whittled away her multimillion dollar fortune over the years.
Forbes writer Zack O'Malley Greenburg told E! News: 'There were certainly rumors that Whitney Houston died broke and she

'It's been a while since she has put out an album and been on tour, so one could see why towards the end of her life she would be running a bit low on cash.'
A music insider claimed that the singer was flat broke and had been living off advances from her record label for 'quite some time'.
Property records show she had approximately $2.85 million worth of real estate in her name in the form of two homes in New Jersey. Daughter Bobbi Kristina has listed her address as an Atlanta townhouse that was purchased in 2007 for $509,875.
She sold a house in Florida for $1.35 million back in 2005.
Sony Music are now expected to release some of Houston's greatest hits but her estate may not receive a large payout from this, as her biggest hit I Will Always Love You was written by Dolly Parton – who is poised to cash in all over again.

It has also emerged that the Beverly Hilton Hotel management asked the coroner to leave Houston's body in her hotel room until after the Clive
Davis' pre-Grammy party finished, according to RadarOnline.
A source told the website the decision was made 'out of respect for Whitney Houston' and amid security concerns.
But it was also reported that the management did not want to upset guests at the hotel either.
'It would be insensitive for the van
to be driven out with her body as limos were pulling away with the

The body was eventually removed after midnight, when officers had finished their on-scene work.

Last year, Forbes named him the highest paid man in entertainment, earning $130 million between May 2010 and 2011.
When he heard about Whitney's death, he is said to have rushed to the hospital and offered his private jet to her family to fly her remains home.
Writing on Facebook about the late singer in 2009, he said: 'Whitney Houston and I are friends. Over the last few years, I’ve gotten to know her pretty well, and with that, I’ve had the opportunity to witness a miracle up close and personal.
'I’ve watched her regain her strength, her fight and her faith. You have no idea how much this woman has been through in her life and, as much as she’s shared with me, I’m sure half of it has not been told. What I know for sure is, she is a living miracle.'

The decision to bury Whitney in Newark was taken after a family rift, according to website TMZ.

Jackson was said to

Los Angeles assistant chief coroner Ed

said toxicology reports will not be available for several weeks, making
it impossible to pinpoint the exact cause of death.
He confirmed to ABC that officials found prescription bottles, but said there wasn't anything 'alarming' or 'out of the

In another twist, Houston’s former bodyguard Alan Jacobs revealed that he quit his job because he was unable to protect her.
He also revealed that one of Brown’s family took over his job – but did not do it properly.

Mr Jacobs served as Houston’s bodyguard for eight years until the early 2000s.
Fans have speculated that as the

those around her who could have protected her best.

SALES OF HITS EXPECTED TO SOAR
Whitney Houston's music is expected to soar to the top of the charts after the shock news of her death last night, the Official Charts Company (OCC) said.
The firm said it was already expecting a sales surge to impact on the charts, with the singer's songs expected to take places in the Official Singles Chart and Official Albums Chart over the next week.
Although first verified sales reports will not be made until Tuesday morning, incorporating sales from Sunday and Monday, the OCC said it understood that sales are already surging.
A similar effect was seen after the deaths of Michael Jackson in June 2009 and Amy Winehouse in August 2011 as fans paid tribute by buying the artists' singles and albums.
In summer 2009, six Michael Jackson albums hit the Official Albums Chart Top 40, including a greatest hits at Number 1, while five singles hit the Official Singles Chart Top 40, a week after the singer's death.
Two years later, Amy Winehouse's albums took three places in the Official Top 10, along with five singles in the Official Top 40.
The OCC described Houston as a 'true legend' of the UK's Official Charts – her first UK hit Saving All My Love For You, became Official number 1 in 1985. She racked up four number one singles and 13 more top 10 singles, along with two number one albums and five more top 10 singles.
The star's biggest hit was a cover of Dolly's Parton's I Will Always Love You, which featured in The Bodyguard, which became the biggest-selling single of 1992 and the 10th biggest single of 1993, according to Official Charts data.
It held the Official Number 1 spot for 10 weeks.
Brown then cancelled a concert in order to be

He said: 'I

this time, we ask for privacy, especially for my daughter,

directed towards my family and I at this most difficult time.'
