Maria had alerted her fans she was planning a change in hair colour earlier this week.

However, the TOWIE star told MailOnline her current hue is not the final look she is hoping for.

Due to the fact that Maria began with bright red hair, she is having to have the colour changed gradually in several different stages.

She wrote on her Twitter page yesterday: “Stage one of the hair transformation complete….

“Not the finished product yet as its gona take a while lifting the red out. But i love it x”

And Maria said the final effect she is hoping for is to get the “Abbey Crouch look” – blonde hair with lighter highlights – ahead of Christmas.

But despite not being entirely happy with her current shade, Maria looked thrilled as she left the hair salon.

The reality TV star is clearly looking forward to the festive season as well, given that she was wearing an on-trend Christmas jumper featuring snowmen on a red background.

Maria teamed her festive knitwear with a pair of jeans and sequinned UGG boots as she left the salon.
