'If you want to whack me up, whack me up': TOWIE's Joey Essex and newcomer Ricky Rayment come to blows at Lauren Goodger's salon re-launch
It's normally the Essex ladies who start quarreling and fall out, but on tonight's episode of The Only Way Is Essex it was the men who came to blows.
Joey Essex and newcomer Ricky Rayment started rowing as they attended Lauren Goodger's salon relaunch.
And although Ricky gave a very small attempt to patch things up with Joey, he then ended up challenging him to a brawl, offending his sister then storming out of the shop.
Arguing: The Only Way Is Essex stars Joey Essex and Ricky Rayment started rowing as they both attended the re-opening of Lauren Goodger's salon
The argument started as Joey had become convinced that the show's new playboy had been bitching behind his back.
Joey started talking about the Lothario as he first turned up to the party, which was being held to celebrate Lauren re-opening her shop following a petrol bomb scare last week.
The club promoter spoke to his sister Frankie and Chloe Sims, who assured Joey that Ricky wasn't a 'cool guy'.
Confrontation: Joey was convinced Ricky had been 'bitching' behind his back but he insisted he was too drunk to remember saying anything
Challenging: Ricky gave a half-hearted apology before challenging him to hit him
Coming to blows: The girls tried to stop Joey following Ricky out as he offended his sister Frankie
She said: 'You can be flash but I don't think he's got the goods to go with it. He ain't a cool guy… you're a cool guy though.'
And his sister Frankie agreed, repeating the notions, before they set about enjoying their champagne and the rest of the evening.
But the problem was clearly still playing on Joey's mind as he couldn't stop glancing over at Ricky once he'd entered the shop.
Ricky walked straight over to host Lauren and her pal Lydia Bright and began flirting as they lapped up the attention.
…But Joey was determined to stick up for his sister and chased after the show newcomer
Struggle: The argument put a dampener on the evening which was to celebrate Lauren's salon re-opening following a petrol bomb attack last week
But as soon as Joey got his chance he confronted him and asked him to 'be a man' and speak to his face if he has a problem with him.
Joey lashed out: 'You're chatting s**t behind my back mate', causing Ricky to start off by trying to diffuse the situation.
He insisted he couldn't remember saying anything because he was so “off his nut” and appealed to Joey's vain side by praising him.
Flirt: Earlier in the night he was seen flirting with host Lauren as she offered to give him a spray tan in the week
Discussions: Earlier in the evening Chloe Sims told Joey and his sister Frankie that he was a 'cooler' guy than Ricky
'You're a don, you are Joey Essex. I have to say sorry.'
But instead of accepting the half hearted apology, Joey continued to lay into him, causing Ricky to raise his voice, blasting back and challenging him to lash out at him.
He shouted: 'What do you want me to say then Get p**sed and go bitch about me behind my back. If you want to whack me up, just whack me up right now.'
But Joey turned his back on him, saying: 'F**k off mug.'
As tensions began to rise worried faces were seen in the background, including Joey's sister Frankie.
But as she tried to interrupt the argument, Ricky spat back at her as he stormed out of the salon: 'No one's talking about you and no one ever will talk about you.'
Upsets: Jessica Wright told Sam and Billy Faiers how she has fallen out with Lauren Goodger and has no loyalty towards her any more
And that was the last straw for Joey, who bundled out of the shop after him.
But although Ricky is proving unpopular with the male castmembers, he appears to be a hit with the TOWIE ladies.
Lauren Goodger was smitten as he walked into the shop and admitted to Chloe earlier in the day that she was enjoying sending him flirty texts.
And they appeared to hit it off as she asked if she could spray tan him in the week and he playfully accepted.
But it looks like he'll be causing even more controversy as Lauren's new rival Jessica Wright has also been receiving flirty messages from him.
Dressing up: Gemma turned up to Jessica's store to get some underwear ready for her first date with Charlie
He wined and dined her at his house as he poured champagne and cooked a meal…
…And she seemed smitten as they discussed their favourite reads, including OK! magazine and Ricky Martin's autobiography
Lauren and Jessica have recently fallen out and she was seen discussing their issues with the Faiers sisters, telling Sam and Billy she no longer has loyalty towards her former friend.
She said: 'She's probably going to get more angry as he's been texting me too. I don't know Ricky enough, he seems quite flirty. I'm just going with the flow. I've got no loyalty to Lauren any more.'
And he's only just got over upsetting James 'Arg' Argent, who shouted at him last week for openly flirting with his ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright.
Having fun: Joey Essex put Ricky off his mind earlier in the day as he had a day out with Arg and Frankie as they went sledging
…But Arg struggled to get down the hill, although he did turn up with a new groomed look with waxed eyebrows
Lydia met up with Ricky in a coffee shop on tonight's show, telling him she 'didn't understand' Arg's problem.
But her former boyfriend is obviously still struggling over their break-up and is setting about giving himself a 'groomed' make over as he gets used to his new single status.
After having his eyebrows waxed, he asked Joey if he'd noticed anything different, insisting he finds himself 'more handsome'.
But he just told him: 'I think you look exactly the same.'
My Fair Lady: Arg's ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright went to an elocution class so she could speak 'properly'
And although most of the stars were struggling with issues and fall outs on tonight's show, at least one pair were happy in their own company.
Gemma was wracked with nerves as she met up with Charlie for a first date, but she needn't have worried as he bought her champagne and cooked her dinner as they talked about their favourite books.
Gemma revealed she read OK! magazine, but Charlie started explaining how he related to singer Ricky Martin after reading his autobiography.
