Hat’s very festive: The Wanted’s Jay McGuinness wears Kris Kringle headwear as band perform at light switch on alongside Carolynne Poole and Mischa B

There's nothing like switching on the Christmas lights to get in the holiday mood, and for one member of The Wanted, that was certainly the case.
Jay McGuiness stood out from his band mates by popping on a Santa hat whilst on stage performing during Manchester's Christmas Lights switch-on at Albert Square.
But The Wanted weren't the only northern artists to entertain the crowd at the festive event as Carolynne Poole and Mischa B stopped by for a sing-a-long.
Ho ho ho: Jay McGuiness starts the Christmas celebrations early by wearing a Santa's hat on stage with The Wanted at Manchester's Christmas Lights Show
Jay McGuiness and his band-mates Max George, Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswaran were wrapped up in their winter coats when they stepped out on stage.
It was a return home for Max and Tom – who are from Manchester and nearby Bolton – so they were sure to put on a great show for their homegrown fans.
At first Jay arrived on stage with just his typical curly hairdo to protect him from the frosty weather.
Christmas spirit: Jay was the only member to show any festive cheer during the entertainment showcase, although Max George's head might have benefited from some extra insulation
Buttoned up: Siva Kaneswaran and Max George made sure their coats were done up to the top whilst performing in the cold weather
But soon enough, the cheeky singer from Newark popped on the Santa hat for the rest of the appearance.
However Jay's tribute to Kris Kringle
clearly didn't go down well with the other boys as they remained
hatless for the entire show.
The Wanted's performance was given some extra festive cheer as snowflakes descended on the audience.

Following The Wanted were former X Factor contestants Mischa B and Carolynne Poole.
Mischa B, 20, was her typical edgy self, overloading on studs that decorated her biker jacket, blouse and leggings.
The Manchester-born singer looked
excited and energetic as she performed to her home crowd ahead of the
spectacular fireworks display.
Urban flavour: The hip hop artist's blend of singing and rapping went down well with the Manchester crowd

Carolynne, 32, was sent home in the first week of live shows, losing out to Rylan in the sing-off.
The singer/songwriter kept warm in a cream trench-coat and thick gloves as she performed alongside up and coming soul and R’n’B group The Du’Montts.
Hands up: Carolynne Poole looks like she's starting a Mexican wave from the stage at Albert Square in Manchester

Coronation Street star Anthony Coton brought some humour to the event by turning up in a Santa Clause outfit.
Although the actor was certainly not as round as old St Nick, he seemed to be just as jolly as he waved to the audience.
For the first time ever the light show was broadcast live online and through social media to allow Mancunians from across the world to share in the celebrations.
