The speed dating event for men who want to meet skinny woman – and they check women's dress sizes at the door

Everyone has a list of qualities they look for in a partner and though physical attributes often feature, who you fall for usually comes down to chemistry.
For some men, however, a slender physique is a non-negotiable requirement, and knowing this all too well, New York dating service On Speed Dating will host its second 'Skinny Minny' night to cater to such demand.
The speed dating extravaganza to be held in Manhattan's East Village, will only allow entry to women size 0-8 and all clothing labels they guarantee, will be checked at the door.

Once a skirt or pant label is approved, the arrival will then have her size noted down on a badge she must wear for the duration of the evening.
The dating company, whose slogan reads:
'Because life is short', prides itself on holding events that meet the
specific criteria people often look for in potential romantic
And it is not, somewhat surprisingly, an idea conceived of and realised by men.
Co-founder, Amber Soletti, told MailOnline about the strict door policy for the 'Skinny Minny' event: 'If [we get] any flack from women we explain that “fair is fair” and that our “Size Matters” Speed Dating event for women who want to date men 6'1″+ that we measure the men and confirm they are all tall enough to participate as well.'
Hot or Not Dating service On Speed Dating hosts a variety of events, some based on singles' looks and others on occupation and hobbies
Though dating websites have indeed become
more and more focussed to cater to those looking for companions with similar interests, some will not doubt consider a guest list
restricted according to weight specification as judgmental.
On the contrary, counters Ms Soletti: 'I think it's just a physical preference and don't actually think it's shallow. I'm 5'10″, I prefer men that are 6'1″ or taller. I also prefer men with full lips and big hands.'
The entrepreneur added that the advantage of profiling guests this way is that punters who sign up for these types of events know that they will get what they're looking for while women will be assured plenty of attention.
The aim, according to what may be seen as a rather obnoxious advertisement on the website, is to avoid the pitfalls of dating websites whose members often lie about their appearance.
'Guys, no need to worry about meeting a biggie-size chick “down-sizing” to an 8 like when you're dating on-line,' the description reads.
'I think it's just a physical preference and don't actually think it's shallow. I'm 5'10″, I prefer men that are 6'1″ or taller. I also prefer men with full lips and big hands'
On Speed Dating defends the event however, by stating: 'Obviously there is more to it than just height or size, but for many of us that initial “attraction” factor is at least a starting point.'
Those who look for boyfriends and girlfriends according to their own strict criteria can expect to find a range of options at the Manhattan events and not all are concerned with looks.
'Speed Date a Kitten' for instance, targets women looking for older men.
Though it is more popular with her male customers says Ms Soletti, 'lots of connections come out of these events as the women are eager to be in a serious relationship and a lot of these older men are ready to settle down as well.'
Ms Soletti points out that while other dating companies struggle to attract male singles, her venture's themed evenings draw a lot of men who have very clear ideas of what type of women they're looking for.
Popular nights amongst male singles include Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, 'Latin Ladies Night' and 'Hot for Teacher'.
Women on the other hand love 'Firemen Speed Dating', 'Men With Accents are Hot' and 'Date an Ivy League Man'.
But other events rely solely upon looks and nights such as 'Hot or Not' and 'Most Eligible' take exclusivity to the extreme when it comes to physical beauty.
