Tequila at your fingertips: cashless clubbing arrives in Ibiza, is this the most dangerous technology ever
18:47 GMT, 11 July 2012
A night partying on the hedonistic island of Ibiza is guaranteed to lighten the wallet.
In fact, finding the credit card receipts the morning after the night before is often more painful than the Pacha hangover.
Now a new super technology is threatening to make those super club hangovers a whole lot easier to achieve.
Poolside: A round of cashless cocktails at your fingertrips at Ushuaia
The Ushuaia Beach Club hotel in Playa d'En Bossa, Ibiza, is the first hotel in the world to offer
Paytouch – secure biometric technology that uses fingerprints to
identify customers, and their credit cards.
The hotel cites security, convenience and a thirst to be first with the new technologies.
But any party person knows that using credit cards instead of cash on a night out already makes most of us a lot more generous, especially if the sangria is flowing, so the reasons at the heart of the easy to use new payment technology might be slightly less customer focused than they insist.
Not that the recession-proof clubbers already hitting the island in their thousands will care.
Ibiza die-hards are always looking for the next big thing, and at the moment this is it.
Much cooler than an all-inclusive
wrist-band, this cashless system lets showy guests pay for anything at
the hotel with a swipe of their fingers, a brilliant way for to impress.
Ravers: The hotel is famous for it's weekly pool parties
And as one of the hottest new party destinations in Ibiza, the five star options are pretty extensive.
