Taylor Swift is 'dumped by boyfriend' Eddie Redmayne after brief romance
Rising British star Eddie Redmayne may be the latest man to make it into a Taylor Swift song lyric.
According to reports in Us Weekly, the 30-year-old actor broke up with the singer last month after Swift lost out to West End star Samantha Barks for the role of Eponine in the film adaptation of Les Miserables.
The My Week With Marilyn star is said to have 'embarked on a relationship' with Swift, 22, after meeting her in October while she was auditioning for the role.
Broken relationship: Taylor Swift, pictured promoting new film The Lorax on Tuesday, is said to have been 'dumped' by British actor Eddie Redmayne
'They hung out in New York City with the movie's execs,' a source tells the U.S. publication. 'And Taylor developed feelings for him fast.'
The pair were then said to have kept in touch after Redmayne returned to the UK.
'Taylor loved this image of a British boyfriend,' the source added.
Swift and Redmayne met up again as recently as January 24 in London where they had drinks, but after returning to the U.S., Swift learned she had lost the role.
Not working: According to sources, Redmayne wasn't interested in a long distance relationship with the country singer
'Eddie's not interested in a long-distance relationship,' the source said. 'The elements were against them. It's a shame.'
Swift has previously been linked to actors Taylor Lautner and Jake Gyllenhaal, along with musicians John Mayer and Joe Jonas.
She is well known for her personal lyrics, writing one song entitled Dear John, purportedly about Mayer on her 2010 album Speak Now.
And the singer recently told Vogue magazine that her next record will also be about a broken relationship.
Rising star: Redmayne stars as Stephen Wraysford alongside Clmence Posy in the TV adaptation of Birdsong
'There's just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak,' she said, and 'that will turn out to be what the next album is about.
'The only way that I can feel better about myself – pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone – is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity. I have red flags now.'
Redmayne will play young rebel Marius Pontmercy in the film adaptation which will star Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried , Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.
