Verdict: Don”t take anyone to this

This laugh-free U.S. comedy, set for no good reason in 1988, shows over-age actors trying to play high-school graduates misbehaving on the verge of adulthood.

The attempts at gross-out comedy are relentlessly unappealing, and don’t rise to the levels of Superbad, let alone those of The Hangover.

A turkey: The attempts at gross-out comedy are relentlessly unappealing in Take Me Home Tonight, starring Topher Grace

Topher Grace, as an aimless graduate, and Teresa Palmer, as a junior banker, are anodyne romantic leads, and the obligatory slob (Dan Fogler) is so obnoxious he almost made me nostalgic for Jack Black in Gulliver’s Travels.

No wonder this mindless celebration of cocaine abuse and general yobbishness has been awaiting distribution since 2007.
