Model mom: Maggie Rizer, 34, has announced she is expecting her second child, another boy, next spring
Supermodel Maggie Rizer has announced she will welcome a baby boy next spring, her second pregnancy in under a year.
The model, 34, and her husband Alex Mehran, gave birth to their first son Zander, 11 months, last year. Their new addition to the family is due March 23, 2013.
The happy announcement follows the recent public loss of her golden retriever, Bea, who died
on an America Airlines flight in September.
Far from being worried about having two children so close in age, she told People magazine it 'will be just about the sweetest thing in the world. A
made-for-you best friend. We feel incredibly blessed.'
The model herself has four siblings and hopes to replicate her large-family childhood for her own children to IMB heir, Mr Mehran.
'Alex and I always wanted a big family,' she explained.
'We want to have as many kids as we can — within reason.'
Although she loves being a doting mother, she admits she is not a
fan of the pregnancy, and is hoping to fast-forward winter to welcome her
'I’m not that girl that’s like, “I love it, I can embrace
it,”' she revealed. 'I’m like, “When is it going to end”'
Oblivious to his impending big-brother responsibilities, Zander is enjoying being his infant self, she added.
'He’s hysterical. He’s happy,' she said. 'He’s standing by himself now, clapping and waving.'
so amazing,' she continued, 'that they come out as blobs and they
develop into these real little people with great personalities.'
Family: The model and her husband, Alex Mehran, gave birth to their first son Zander, 11 months, last year; their golden retriever, Bea, was one of three dogs belonging to the couple, who were gifted at their 21010 wedding
Ms Rizer, who was at the peak of her modelling career in the Nineties, with a famous purported day-rate of $30,000, allegedly amassed a fortune of $7million in only five years.
However at age 20, her stepfather, John Breen, who was in the insurance industry, decided he would handle her finances.
Because of a gambling and drinking problem, Mr Breen lost his savings and turned to Ms Rizer's money, sometimes losing over $60,000 per day, gambling away all of her modelling income and the money she inherited upon the death of her biological father, Kevin, from AIDS in 1992.
In 2004, her stepfather was convicted of grand larceny and conspiracy to defraud and was sentenced to sixteen to forty-eight months in prison.
Ms Rizer mostly quit modelling, before marrying her husband in 2010.
