Strictly ballroom: Favourite frocks from the series are floor-length gowns rather than sexy Latin numbers
The skimpier outfits worn by Ola Jordan on Strictly Come Dancing may be the most likely to send men”s heartbeats racing, but it is the TV show”s beautiful ballgowns which topped a poll of the nation”s favourite dresses.
Soft, pastel tones also proved more popular than the bright colours worn during Latin dances, with Alesha Dixon and Kara Tointon”s peach dresses – which they both wore during the final in the years that they won – coming in first and third place.
Alex Jones” ghost-like flowy white dress, which she wore for the Halloween special this year, came in joint first place.
Firm favourite: The peach, sparkly, backless dress, with a tulle skirt that Alesha Dixon wore during her waltz in the Strictly final in 2007
Joint first place: Alex Jones” Paso Doble dress worn in the Halloween special this year received 10 per cent of the votes
Both Alesha and Alex”s frocks received 10 per cent of the votes in a poll of Strictly”s finest dresses commissioned by the maker of fashion design toy Harumika.
Kara Tointon”s American Smooth dress from the 2010 final came third, followed by a pink ball gown worn by Michelle Williams in the same year.
The first really brightly coloured dress came in fifth place, it was Rachel Stephens” blue gown which she wore in the promotional material for the sixth series.
Rachel”scolourful number was placed just below Jo Wood”s silver and white floorlength dress, which she wore in the promotional photos for Strictly”s 2009 series.
Favourite shade: Kara Tointon in the peach dress she wore when she was crowned winner last year, and Michelle Williams in a pink gown, also last year
Holly Valance who, with Alex Jones was kicked off the show last weekend, wore the only short dress which made it into the top 10.
The spangly gold number she wore for her Cha Cha Cha pushed Christine Bleakley”s pink Waltz gown into ninth place.
Vicki Elmer, girls product manager at Bandai, said: “The designs options with Harumika are endless and we love seeing budding fashionistas recreating dresses worn by celebrities, such as those who have appeared in Strictly Come Dancing.”
Sparkly and sophisticated: Jo Wood (left) and Rachel Stevens in the dresses they wore in promotional material for the series
Animal magic: Professional dancer Ola Jordan often wears the skimpiest outfits on the show, but here she is in a smart Foxtrot outfit with Chris Hollins who won the series in 2009
Short but sweet: Holly Valance wore the only short dress that made it into the top 10. While Christine Bleakley”s was in voters” favourite colour
