Speed read: Time to slip into something more comfortable as slipper-shoes become all the rage
It’s time to slip into something more comfortable, as slipper-shoes have become all the rage.
Jimmy Choo, House of Harlow and Charlotte Olympia have exchanged their mega-heels for velveteen, glittery or leopard-print flatties, and Alexa Chung and Nicole Richie have been pictured in the kind of footwear you’d usually see alongside a smoking jacket and a pipe.
As ever, the High Street has jumped on the trend. Asos has some bright mules and River Island wild animal prints. Make sure they are well-soled, just don’t accessorise with this season’s other surprise trend – silky pyjamas.

HOW TO WEAR
Choose velvet in a navy, rich red or racing green to add a bit of decadence to your outfit.
Don’t go for slippers with sheepskin insides or backless ones. These are elegant lounge slippers, not cosy bedtime ones. You want the shoes to look dainty and elongate the foot.
Slippers look best on bare skin. Avoid tights or socks.
