“I had no off button”: Mother who once ate ten chocolate bars in single sitting drops three dress sizes using only mind control
Many of us over-indulge in the run-up to Christmas.
But Wendy McDonald got into the festive spirit a little more than most when she devoured three selection boxes of chocolates she had bought as gifts for her children – in one sitting.
“I wolfed down 10 choccie bars in one go and I wasn’t even hungry,” the former binge-eater said. “That was shameful.”
Before and after: Wendy McDonald was a size 18 before she started listening to Slimpods which changed her relationship with food
However, Wendy, 42, from Shropshire, has now beaten her eating mania for good. She lost three stone and went from a size 18 to a size 12, all thanks to a pre-recorded hypnosis weight loss programme called Thinking Slimmer.
Wendy says: “When I was a girl I was a skinny teenager, so much so that I used to starve myself. But it all changed after my first child, when I put on five stone. Since then I have been a yo-yo dieter and a binge eater.
“I had no stop button. I would keep stuffing my face without ever feeling full or sick. I used to overeat even though I wasn’t hungry. “
Wendy – who lives with her computer engineer husband Ian, and is mum to Joseph 23, Megan 19, Ella 15, Kezia, nine and two-year-old Freddy – said she would regularly eat more than double the 2,000 daily calorie intake that is recommended for women.
“I”ve been a binger most of my adult life,” she says. “I”ve tried every diet going and failed. I”d lose a bit of weight, put it back on, lose it, put it back on.
Then Wendy discovered Thinking Slimmer, a programme which shows that weight loss and staying away from temptation is all in the mind.
The weightloss technique uses Slimpods – voice recordings that have been created by a team of Harley Street specialists – to alter the listener”s relationship with food and exercise.
Happy family: Wendy is proud that since her weightloss she has become a better role model for her children
For example, the recording tells you to visualise how you want to be, like a “persuasive friend” whose message somehow gets ingrained in your subconscious.
There are 18 different Slimpods available, each helping to achieve a specific goal, whether it’s dropping two dress sizes, fitting into a wedding dress or getting over a chocolate addiction.
Wendy says: “When I started listening to my Slimpod I weighed 16st 8lb, which at 5ft 11in made me a size 18. I”m now down to 13st and a size 12, which feels amazing.
“Before I got my Slimpod I’d usually be so busy with the children that I’d skip proper breakfast and then snack lots on toast and butter followed by biscuits.
“Then by the time 11 o’clock came round I’d be hungry again and I’d start eating chocolate or a packet of biscuits. Lunch would either be a ready meal, usually packed with calories, and Freddy”s left-overs.
“As the day went on, it would just get worse. When Ella and Kezia got home from school, I’d often polish off a box of chocolate fingers and a big bag of tortilla chips.
“I have to say that dinner with Ian was always a healthy choice — meals like vegetable curry, for example. But I was so out of control that I’d eat enough for three and then I’d have cheese on toast before going to bed.
Out with the old: Wendy is throwing out her size 16-18 wardrobe and replacing it with skinny jeans and ticgh size 12 tops
“It’s no exaggeration to say that my eating and my portion sizes were completely out of control.”
Wendy was sceptical of the programme, but as soon as she started using Slimpods she began to see the weight fall off.
“I hit my target of losing a stone but there was a problem: I was using a Slimpod called Drop Two Dress Sizes and I was finding it very difficult to visualise myself in a dress. Usually, I wear jeans and a baggy top to hide my tummy.
“So Thinking Slimmer’s Harley Street specialists sent me a new Slimpod called Drop Two Jeans Sizes. They suggested I use it alongside their Chocoholic Cure.”
“I have experienced massive changes in my eating habits. I don’t eat between meals and my portions have halved. The strangest thing is that I have gone off chocolate bars, which is unheard of. I don”t even spare them a thought anymore.
“I want to be able to eat something delicious from time to me, having factored in the calorie content. I want to enjoy it, relishing the indulgence, but confident in the fact that one will be enough.”
Gone are the days when Wendy ate because her “mouth was bored”…. and her childrens” Christmas chocolates are safe this year.
