Please Don't Let Me Go! Simon Cowell gives Olly Murs an ultimatum – music vs. Xtra Factor
Simon Cowell can be a little fickle when it comes to selecting his TV stars.
One minute he wants them, the next he doesn't – as Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Steve Jones can certainly vouch for.
So Olly Murs should thank the heavens he's been invited back for Xtra Factor glory, but the Syco boss has dangled the carrot as an ultimatum.
Sunkissed or spray tan Olly Murs attended the BRIT Awards looking tanned
Olly, who began his own career on the talent show, has been instructed to ditch dreams of an international career if he wants to host the next series.
Cowell believes that if Olly continues to pursue musical success across the globe, it will conflict with his filming schedule of the spin-off show in the UK.
If Olly continues to launch his solo album internationally over the summer, performing dates in
Europe and the US will clash with the audition stages.
Whilst the music mogul is determined to sign Olly and Caroline Flack again, he won't allow Murs to miss try-outs and attend the live shows only.
Greedy! Olly wants to pursue a TV career as well as his popstar commitments
said: 'I really want to do it but when I asked Simon if I could just do
the live shows, he said no, it wouldn’t be possible.'
sidekick Caroline added: 'They asked me if I’d consider presenting with
someone else. But that’d feel just weird – I love Olly!'
Olly, 27, is clearly not ready to surrender his creative outlet yet though, having performed at the BRIT Awards on Tuesday.
The X Factor runner-up, who came
second to Joe McElderry in 2009, is gearing up to the release of latest
single Oh My Goodness on April 1.
