Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon marries Christine Marinoni after 8 years together

Sex and the City's Cynthia Nixon has married her long-term partner Christine Marinoni.
The actress, 46, wore a custom dress by Carolina Herrera for the ceremony, which was held in New York yesterday.

Her publicist confirmed to People: 'Cynthia Nixon and her girlfriend, Christine Marinoni, were legally married in the state of New York.'
No further details about the ceremony are currently available.
The couple have a son Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni, 15 months, whom Marinoni, 45, gave birth to last year. They have not revealed the details of the child's biological father.
Cynthia also has a daughter Samantha, 16, and 10-year-old son Charles from her firstmarriage to Danny Mozes
The actress and education activist got engaged three years ago at a rally to support gay marriage in New York, which was not legal at that time.

The pair decided to wait to marry until it was legal to do so in New York state, which occurred last summer.

Speaking in 2010, Cynthia said: 'I'm enjoying being engaged very much.
'I don't mind a long engagement, which this one is surely turning out to be.'
Cynthia was married to English professor Danny from 1988 to 2003.
She met Christine at an education rally in 2002 and they became a couple two years later.
They announced their engagement at a marriage equality rally in New York in 2009.
Cynthia later said: ‘In terms of sexual orientation, I don’t feel I’ve changed.
‘I’d been with men all my life and I’d never fallen in love with a woman. But when I did, it didn’t seem strange. I’m just a woman in love with another woman.’

In 2008, the actress revealed she had beaten breast cancer which was diagnosed during a routine mammogram two years earlier.
She went on to play a cancer patient on stage too, shaving her head for her role in Wit.
She will compete for a Tony Award next month after earning a nomination for best actress for the part.
