Love the new look! Selena Gomez shows off shorter hairdo as she gets heart tattoo on wrist

Selena Gomez stepped out for dinner last night, unveiling a new shorter haircut.

The 19-year-old singer – who dined out with pals in Los Angles – is also following in the footsteps of her boyfriend Justin Bieber by getting inked.

A new Twitter picture shows the singer posing with tattoo artist Louie Gomez – who coincidentally shares the same surname as Selena – as she holds up her wrist to exhibit the new heart etching on her wrist.

Store employee Jordan Sandoval, from
the Under The Gun shop in Hollywood, tweeted the image, revealing Gomez
was not scared of the pain: 'She wasn't nervous. She is way cute,' he
wrote.

Boyfriend Justin, 17, who already has
three tattoos, tweeted to say he was hard at work in the studio last
night while his girlfriend was busy getting the artwork done.

Later on the former Wizards of Waverly Place star dressed up for a dinner date with her friends.

Gomez was sporting newly-shortened, brunette locks having had her long tresses cut.

In a new interview, Selena opened up about her school days, revealing she was less than popular with her peers.

The songstress said she never had very many friends during her
student days, preferring instead to keep herself to herself.

She said: 'I was never the popular kid
at school. I had two friends, but I just sat at the back of the room
and got on with my work.

'School is such an awkward time in your life. I was never confident
in school.'

And Selena
credits the fact that her cousin was the captain of the cheerleading
team at school as the reason that she wasn't bullied.

She added: 'Nobody picked on me because my cousin
was one of the popular gang.

'She was always very protective of me, so I
guess I was very lucky.'

Selena's interview came as Disney Channel launched Superbia, an online game which gives Wizards
of Waverly Place fans the chance to decorate an online home in the
latest Wizards style, and dress up like their favouirte characters.
