Guest star: Sarah Jessica Parker, seen above in New York on June 4, will guest star in the new season of Glee on Fox
Sarah Jessica Parker played a freelance writer for years on Sex And The City – and she's finally being given a promotion.
The 47-year-old star will star in Glee as an editor at Vogue.com when the Emmy-winning series returns to Fox for its fourth season on September 13.
To add further excitement, the show's creator Ryan Murphy has said the actual U.S. Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, 62, will be assigned to wardrobe duty during SJP's appearance.
He posted on Twitter on July 31: 'Guess who's helping us with Sarah Jessica Parker's costumes on GLEE The amazing Anna Wintour!'
It is rumoured that Miss Jessica Parker's appearance will involve some sort of interaction with two of the show's lead characters – Rachel, played by Lea Michele, and Kurt, played by Chris Colfer.
As Kurt is undoubtedly one of the show's most fashionable characters, the Sex And The City star, who resides in New York's West Village, will be involved in Kurt's transition to the Big Apple.
The mother-of-three is said to be playing a mentor to the character as he is suspected to join Rachel in New York.
Interestingly, Ms Wintour's 24-year-old
daughter Bee Shaffer began working for Mr Murphy's production company in
Los Angeles last year.
Although she is not directly associated
with Glee, she is said to oversee a number of projects within the
company including the Glee Live! 3D! concert tour film.
All-stars: The Glee cast (l-r Chris Colfer, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron, Kevin McHale, and Darren Criss) will be joined by a string of big-name guest stars
Ms Jessica Parker is not the only exciting addition to the Glee family.
Power consultant: U.S. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, above, will assist with SJP's wardrobe on Glee
Kate Hudson has also begun filming her
own role in the highly-anticipated new season, which sees the cast move
on from William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio, where we were first
introduced to the New Directions musical group.
It was originally announced last May that the bubbly blonde Oscar nominee, 33, would appear on as many as six episodes of series.
Miss Michele, 25, could not contain her excitement over her new cast mate, telling ET Canada at the recent Comic-Con convention: 'I am so excited… I’m so obsessed with her'.
'I love her,' she continued. 'She's one of the greatest comedic actresses right now and I just think she's so great…so I can't wait to work with her!'
Ms Hudson will play Cassandra July, the 'negative-reinforcement' practicing dance instructor and mentor to Rachel at the New York Academy for Dramatic Arts.
Mr Murphy tweeted a picture of the two leading ladies on set just a few days ago.
He wrote: 'GLEE exclusive: @msleamichele and Kate Hudson on the NYADA set. Kate had chandelier approval. ;)'
Also joining the show this season are
Dean Geyer, an Australian Idol contestant who will play an
upperclassman at NYADA interested in Rachel, and Jacob Artist who plays Jake Puckerman, the younger, half-brother of Puck.
Famous faces: Kate Hudson (right) will also star in several episodes of the new Glee as a dance instructor to Rachel, played by Lea Michele (left) in New York
Back to work: Glee actor Cory Monteith (left) was spotted during a photo-shoot with a brunette model in the Meatpacking District of New York on July 30
Past celebrity guests on the show have included Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow, Olivia Newton John and John Stamos.
This is not the first time Ms Jessica Parker has worked alongside Ms Wintour.
The pair were heavily involved in a fundraiser for the U.S. President, held at Miss Jessica Parker's West Village home in June.
Ms Wintour was spotted arriving at the home as the actress cleaned the space, in which hosted Mr Obama and a group of paying raffle winners, from top to bottom.
