Each to his own taste! The verdict on 'I'm so Beautiful' Samantha (by her husband's ex partner)

Lucile Bertail (pictured): 'I really couldn't care what she (Samantha Brick) does, so long as she keeps me out of it.'
She became infamous the world over after claiming her great beauty made life so difficult.
Now the army of Samantha Brick detractors has a new recruit after her French husband’s ex-partner finally revealed her opinion of the publicity-hungry 41-year-old.
It’s not flattering.
'I do not like what I’ve heard of her,’ said Lucile Bertail bluntly, after The Mail on Sunday tracked her down to her rural chalet in southern France.
And when asked if Samantha was beautiful, Lucile gave a Gallic shrug as she stifled a laugh and said: ‘Well, each to his own taste…'
Lucile’s rustic life is a world away from Samantha’s glamour.
She wears no make-up, piles her long, greying hair into a top-knot, and works as a barmaid in the village of Frayssinet-le-Gelat in jeans and a jumper.
She was unwittingly drawn into the media circus when her fiery 51-year-old ex, Pascal Rubenat, defended Samantha against the backlash to her claims that 'jealous' women treated her with hostility because they found her beauty threatening.
When asked if Lucile was jealous of his new wife, the carpenter said: 'It is worse than jealousy, it is hatred.'
But the two women have never met, and Lucile insists she does not know Samantha well enough to despise her.
'I have seen what has been written and that I am meant to hate Samantha,’ she said. 'Why would I hate her I don’t know her.
'We’ve never met and never spoken.'
However, it seems there is little love lost between the pair.
Samantha claims Lucile calls her 'pouffiasse' – which loosely translates as 'slapper'.

The women have also clashed over the upbringing of Lucile and Pascal’s son Antonio, 16.
Samantha has claimed in print that Lucile had 'goaded' the teenager
into behaving badly towards her, and said Lucile refused to pay
She wrote on
her website last year: 'I’ve discovered – via court papers!! – that my
husband’s ex has been taking in my blog and [my] writing and is using
them as evidence against us in her quest to avoid paying any maintenance
for her son.'
Lucile has a different recollection, but concedes there has been a tribunal hearing on Antonio. 'She has written things about me that are simply not true. I don’t know why,' she says.
In interviews Samantha has spoken warmly of her stepson and boasted he chose to live with her and Pascal, 10 miles from Lucile.
But Antonio moved back with Lucile three months ago and has had no contact with the couple since. 'They don’t speak to me,’ he said from Lucile’s side.
'They were angry, I suppose, because I wanted to go to my mother.'
Lucile and Pascal’s 15-year relationship ended before he met Samantha.
The Frenchwoman is keen not to be drawn into the spotlight surrounding Samantha. ‘I really couldn’t care what she does,' she said. 'So long as she keeps me out of it.'
Last night, Samantha told The Mail on Sunday that she stood by all she had written about Lucile. 'I have made an official complaint about her behaviour to the police,' she said. 'No, they haven’t charged her with anything, but they have warned her.
'I have tried to speak to her because I know what it is like to be the child of divorced parents, but she won’t speak to me.'
