She”s played 98 concerts in six months, so it”s little surprise that Rihanna is ready for a rest.

And in a bid to give her body a break the 23-year-old has ditched her towering Louboutins for some more sensible footwear.

Before leaving the UK for Barbados this Christmas the singer stuffed cases full of designs from Somerset footwear brand Clarks.

The British manufacturer, who has been making shoes for almost two centuries, has successfully revamped its image over recent years attracting numerous celebrity admirers including the Artic Monkeys and Florence Welch.

A source told The Sun: “Rihanna returned home with a stash of sensible shoes from Clarks.

“She”s been wearing towering heels throughout her Loud tour which has taken its toll on her feet.

“She”s been suffering all sorts of aches and pains so she”s going easy on her feet while she”s off.

“She loves Clarks so she thought she”d treat her family to a pair each.

“Her new-found love for them has become a bit of an in-joke for her friends too.”

The Arctic Monkeys who are also known to be Clarks fans and have been spotted wearing the Original desert boots priced at 79.

Meanwhile reggae artist Vybz Kartel wrote a song about his passion for the footwear, which caused sales in Jamaica to soar.

Tweeting about her latest purchases Rihanna said: “Clarke”s me prefer… Clarke”s for de summer, Clarke”s for de winter! Clarke”s for the sun, Clarke”s for de water!!! #Barbados.”

But the comfort won”t last for long.

The Barbadian is set to perform at a private New Year”s Eve party at the Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados, for a star-studded crowd which will include Simon Cowell.
