Fashion's gold medalist Ralph Lauren kits out U.S. Olympic team in all white for closing ceremony – but are they stylish or just plain frumpy

Ralph Lauren has long been synonymous with the all-American style and has been dressing sporting personalities and Olympic teams for years.
And this year as the U.S. athletes head to London, like many before them, they will also represent their country decked out in the threads of the iconic designer's Polo brand.
But for the 2012 games, Lauren has kitted out the team in red, white and blue for their village wear, and a strangely un-stylish all-white ensemble for the closing ceremony.

The USOC debuted the closing ceremony and Olympic village attire it will provide athletes Wednesday, 100 days before the start of this summer's games.
Women will wear a white blouse and a knee-length white skirt with a silk belt in red, white and navy and matching silk scarf tied at the neck for the closing ceremony.

Men will have a white cotton sport shirt and white trousers, also with a red, white and navy striped silk belt.

without the team crest and the Polo logo of a player on a horse.
The Ralph Lauren line was showcased
on Wednesday morning's 'Today' show.
Two willing taekwondo competitors
who will be attending the games modelled the somewhat frumpy outfits.
Both the sports personalities also wore white flat caps to match the monochromatic garb.
slightly chicer village attire was modelled by four medalists from a variety of sports.
They wore a selection of signature Polo red, white and blue shirts emblazoned with
U.S.A. and their names.
Today Show anchors larked around as they also debuted eye wear that
Olympic sponsor, Oakley, has fashioned for the U.S. team.
