What's happened to Ralph Fiennes Actor sporting bushy beard and receding hairline

He's long been hailed as one of the most sophisticated men in the acting world.
But Ralph Fiennes was looking more hobo that hotshot as he stepped out to mark his directorial debut over the weekend.
The usually well-groomed actor was sporting a bushy beard and long unkempt locks, which did nothing for his receding hairline.
Scruffy: Ralph Fiennes has been sporting an unkempt look of late
Attending a press conference in Pula, Croatia, for his directorial debut Coriolanus, the 49-year-old star looked decidedly scruffy in a casual blue shirt, crew neck T-shirt and jeans.
But before people start to panic that this could be a permanent look, it is thought Ralph's current facial fuzz is necessary for his role as writer Charles Dickens in upcoming movie, The Invisible Woman.
In addition to starring as the protagonist in the film, Ralph is also directing the project, which tells the story of the legendary author's secret affair with 18-year-old actress Nelly Ternan when he was 45.

Felicity Jones was hand-picked by the star to play Nelly in the movie, and she is hoping to eradicate the thought that she was merely Dickens' mistress.
She previously said: 'You hear this word mistress, which has all types of connotations, but Nelly was quite the opposite. She was a very smart almost puritanical woman, in fact.
'The film is about a woman looking back on her life and considering that relationship.
'It’s also about a woman who refuses to be completely invisible.’
Clean-shaven: Ralph usually prefers a tidier appearance to the beard he is sporting at present
