She stole the show at her sister’s Royal Wedding in an Alexander McQueen dress costing 20,000, but Pippa Middleton is busy planning a book about cut-price weddings.

And the Duchess of Cambridge’s ambitious younger sibling will mark the launch of her first book this week, a self-penned party planning guide entitled Celebrate, with a tour of bookshops across the UK.

After discussions with Kate, Pippa has agreed to turn down requests for one-on-one interviews and television appearances for fear of embarrassing the Royal Family.

Booked: It is believed that Pippa signed a 400,000 deal with Michael Joseph, an offshoot of Penguin, who won a fierce bidding war to sign her in the aftermath of last year's Royal Wedding

But plans are already under way for several money- spinning public appearances at leading bookshops in the run-up to Christmas.

She will also undertake what are known in the industry as ‘stock signings’, scribbling her signature on dozen of copies of the glossy hardback which will be sent direct to bookstores after its launch on Thursday, priced 25.

Her publishers are said to be ‘extraordinarily excited’ about the potential of Celebrate and have, the Mail understands, already signed her up for a three-book deal.

‘Pippa has always known that she had
to handle this deal carefully for fear of causing embarrassment to her
sister and at a very early stage ruled out the possibility of doing any
interviews in print or on television as she knows all anyone will want
to do is ask her about William and Catherine,’ said a source close to
the future Queen’s sister.

‘That
said, she does need to sell the book and is more than willing to roll
up her sleeves and get stuck in. As well as a serialisation, plans are
under way for her to do several book signings as well as a stock
signing.

‘Pippa is hugely proud of the book and is looking forward to it immensely.’

If true — and it has not been denied — the deal is virtually unheard of for a first-time non-fiction author.

Pippa, 29, has insisted on writing the book — described as a cross between a party-planning bible, entertainment guide and recipe book — herself.

‘She was offered a host of ghost writers, but said no to them all,’ a source said.

Amazon
— which is selling pre-ordered copies for 12.50 — describes Celebrate
as a ‘one-stop guide to entertaining throughout the British year’ and a
‘cornucopia of information that is fascinating, inspiring and
wonderfully accessible’.

Significantly,
there is no mention of Pippa’s famous sibling or the fact that she
helped to organise the evening reception to celebrate Kate’s marriage to
Prince William.

According to well-placed sources, the second book will be about how to plan the perfect wedding on a shoe-string budget, while a third book is likely to be dedicated to throwing children’s parties.

‘Pippa has wanted to organise weddings ever since she was a little girl,’ said a source.

‘It’s not something she simply thought about after helping to organise Kate’s wedding — although clearly having such a high- profile wedding under her belt will help with business.’

To mark the launch of Celebrate, Pippa has organised a lavish launch party.

Royal sources say that Kate will not attend as William is on duty as an RAF search and rescue pilot and she does not want to overshadow her sister’s big night.

But they admit it is possible that the Duchess will change her mind at the last minute.

‘She is incredibly supportive of what her sister is doing,’ said one.
