Bob Geldof has had plenty of time to adjust to his new grandson's name after his daughter Peaches chose it before the baby was even born.

But two weeks after she gave birth to Astala Dylan WIllow Geldof-Cohen, the Live Aid rocker is struggling to even pronounce his grandson's name.

Speaking on ITV show Lorraine today, the Boomtown Rats frontman, 60, admitted he wasn't even sure how it was pronounced.

When host Lorraine Kelly asked how to pronounce the newborn's name, Geldof replied: 'Shut up, I don't know. I don't know, I haven't said it yet – I can't bring myself to say it.'

When Kelly suggested he could call his grandson by his middle name Dylan, the anti-poverty campaigner admitted he wanted Peaches and her fianc Thomas Cohen to call the baby Leonard.

He explained: 'I wanted to call him Leonard – Leonard Cohen. “Have you met my grandson Leonard Cohen”'

Despite his reservations over the name, Geldof is loving being a grandfather.

He enthused: 'He’s a fantastic little chap. He is cute and they’re really good parents so it’s great. They’re really happy.'

Geldof said he was pleased to see his middle daughter settled down after a wild few years, including a short-lived marriage in Las Vegas, and he really liked Thomas.

The rocker said: 'He’s a great guy, but importantly he’s a
fantastic musician – really, really good. I'm so thrilled that I can go
to the gigs and not have to say, ‘That was quite good,’ I mean an
amazing band (S.C.U.M.). So it excites me actually, aside from the fact he’s
Astala’s dad.'

Explaining the name ahead of Astala's birth on April 21, Peaches said: 'We found Astala in a baby name book – quite an obscure one. This is going to be a very stylish baby.

'I wanted a Jewish name because my fiance is a Jew and the name is the male version of Esther.'
