Forget crackle topcoats – the latest craze in nail polishes is known as Black Spotted.
Created by nail polish giant OPI, the unique new colour tone, which is brushed across nails and dries in a marbled, oil on water-like manner, is drawing the attention of nail art lovers.
And because it is only sold in France, U.S. fans are being forced to spend as much as $70 on eBay in order to secure themselves a tiny 0.5oz bottle of the in-demand liquid.
Craze: Nail art lovers are being forced to spend up to $70 on eBay for OPI's Black Spotted' product. The in-demand polish, seen above, was only released in France
Released through Sephora in France as part of a limited-edition Spiderman collection, the colour will not be sold in U.S. stores.
An OPI representative told MailOnline that the product is part of a 'limited European promotion only'.
As a result, eBay is currently showing several listings for the product including one particularly inflated one that shows a sale price of $69.99.
Inflation: The product, which paints on as a marbled oil-on-water-like effect, is being sold on eBay where nail lovers are placing their bids
Other listings, priced around the more reasonable $30 mark, have attracted more than one dozen bids each.
OPI only offered one of the Spiderman
products in the U.S. which was the Green Shatter variety – but even that
product was available for a limited amount of time.
In-demand: The polish was part of a limited-edition Spiderman range
It was priced at $8.50 per bottle.
It seems there is no end in sight for the growing variety of nail art products on the market.
Once limited to single-colour applications, painting one's nails is no where near as simple as it used to be.
Stars such as Zooey Deschanel and Lady Gaga have sported elaborate takes on the trend in the past, pushing the style fad into all-new territories.
Lady Gaga's nails are often bejeweled with unusual accessories such as diamantes and even wire netting while Miss Deschanel's nails featured decorative bow ties at this year's Emmy awards.
Black Spotted joins the new velvet varnish, created by Ciate, as this season's hottest new nail art trends.
The velvet variety is available in three colours and includes a polish, a
tube of shredded crushed velvet in the same colour as the varnish and a
