They were only scheduled to play four songs during their first performance since hitting No1 on the US Billboard charts.
But there's no doubt that One Direction left their audience satisfied at the Dr Pepper Ballpark in Dallas yesterday.
The (mainly female) crowd went wild for Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson as they took to the stage.
Warm welcome: The crowd went wild for Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson as they took to the stage at the Dr Pepper Ballpark in Dallas yesterday
Many fans had fashioned tokens of affection to show the boys.
A couple of girls held up signs saying '10 hours for 1D' and 'Mexico hearts 1D', demonstrating the lengths to which they had gone to be at the performance.
Others had made t-shirts saying 'I love British boys', which the lads no doubt found welcoming.
Celebrating their success: This is the boys' first performance since hitting No1 on the US Billboard chart with their debut album Up All Night
The gorgeous spring day completed the general party atmosphere, and it looked as though the entire audience was dancing along as the boys bounced – and of course sang- away on stage.
The success of their performance – to around 7,000 fans- will be the icing on the cake for One Direction, who made history when their debut album Up All Night hit No1 on the US Billboard charts.
Sources told website TMZ that a security team of 100 had been assigned to protect the group for their performance in Dallas which is only supposed to last 45 minutes.
Taking it all in: The boys looked as though they could barely believe the reaction
Left the audience satisfied: They were only due to play four songs, but it didn't look as though the crowd felt short-changed
And the boys weren't coy about inviting high profile guests to the show.
It was revealed last week that Niall Horan had been tweeting Khloe Kardashian to invite her as she lives in Dallas.
The blonde pop singer wrote to the reality star: ‘Hey khloe, we are coming to dallas next week for a fan event performing and stuff ! you and lemar should come along!’
They love British boys! These tokens of affection doubtless made the boys feel welcome
And Harry Styles then made a
shameless attempt to get her sister Kim's attention by turning up to a
radio interview in the U.S. holding a massive posted of her in a bikini.
On it, he's attached a post-it note, with a message for the 31-year-old that said: 'Call me… Maybe'
Harry seems to have a penchant for
dating older women, following his three-month fling with The Xtra Factor
host, Caroline Flack, 32.
Dedication: Some members of the audience had clearly traveled a long way to see the show
had used a similar technique to woo her – posing with a sign that read:
'To Flackster! Never too old… Let's make it happen!! Lots of love,
with the rest of One Direction at the Q102 radio station in Pennsylvania
last week as they continue their U.S. promotional blitz.
