One Direction album release brought a week forward in the U.S. as the boys arrive back in England and head straight to the shop to get some pies

They had been mobbed by teenage girls throughout their U.S. tour and became instant heartthrobs.

So it's not surprising that One Direction's debut album has been brought forward a week in America.

After spending the week promoting their music in the US the X Factor finalists arrived back in England today and had clearly been missing British food.

The lads stepped off their plane and
made sure that their first stop was at a supermarket so they could get
some good old fashioned English food.

The five-piece boy band must have been famished after the long-haul flight and made a quick pit-stop at Tesco supermarket where they picked up some essentials.

Curly haired Harry Styles showed that he doesn't care much for watching his figure as he tucked in to a small pie and with a mouthful of pastry he smiled contently.

Escorted by a couple of minders the boys walked back to their car now fully satisfied with a belly full of deli snacks.

Zayn Malik seemed to have returned from America with a new habit and was spotted with a cigarette in his mouth as he crossed the road.

For once, the Gotta Be You singers were not surrounded or chased by any female fans, perhaps because most of their fan base would have been in school.

Nevertheless, the chart-toppers have made quite an impression over the Atlantic and just like Simon Cowell once predicted, they look like they will be a success across the pond.

Stateside fans will be able to purchase Up All Night on March 13.

Their number one single What Makes You Beautiful, will be released in the U.S. one February 14.

The video for the hit song has already garnered over 47 Million views on VEVO and will have its U.S. broadcast premiere on Nickelodeon next Saturday during the network's primetime Valentine's-themed night.

The boys were swarmed by fans during
their visit to Los Angeles where they filmed an episode of popular
series iCarly with the show's star, Miranda Cosgrove.

The crowds of screaming girls were so big, the band was ushered through LAX yesterday, out of view from their followers.

Liam tweeted: 'Sorry to anyone who was at the airport security wouldn't let us out that way so frustrating!!'

The boys are back in London to prepare to promote their upcoming single One Thing, which is released on February 13.

But while the group are known as an equal five-piece on home soil, it emerged over the week that their US management are keen to put forward cheeky Harry as the 'frontman,' citing that boybands in America that have a recognised frontman tend to make it bigger than those that don't.

Harry led the band when they filmed iCarly, with the main character developing a crush on him.

A source told The Daily Star: 'Columbia music execs are rubbing their hands with glee. It looks like One Direction are going to be absolutely massive in America.

Say cheese: The fan pulled herself away long enough t pose for pictures

Say cheese: One Direction (four members pictured this week) have had their debut album pushed forward a week in the U.S.

'They decided long ago that Harry is a natural frontman. He’s funny, confident and has a great voice.'

But the group are keen to stick together. A friend told the newspaper: 'They are determined to carry on the way they have been – without a lead singer. Harry certainly hasn’t asked for all this attention.'

The band will be back in the States next month to support boyband Big Time Rush.
