She is a global style icon who holds the fort on the front row of some of the industry's most prestigious catwalk shows.

So it comes as no surprise that the model, actress and designer makes every effort to look her best every time she leaves the house.

Talking exclusively in the InStyle October issue, Olivia Palermo admits that she never leaves the house fashionably undone.

'I get up every morning and I get
dressed and I like getting dressed. I like walking out of the house
feeling fully pulled together.

'It doesn’t matter if there’s someone
standing outside my apartment or not. I couldn’t care less. I like
getting dressed for me and not them,' she said.

The 26-year-old star who shot to fame on the MTV show The City has taken the fashion world by storm.

She has modeled for the likes of Mango and Hogan, has an ongoing relationship with Rochas, an upcoming charity trip to Kenya with Spanish shoe company Pikolinos, style picks for Gap’s online retail outlet piperlime.com, is ambassador for Italian lingerie label Intimissimi and, of course, her roving brief, taking in the fashion capitals of the world for oliviapalermo.com to name but a few.

She completely embodies the American 'Park Avenue Princess' and is a real life Gossip Girl character but she is still quite baffled as to how she has such a strong fan base in both Britain and overseas (she has even become an inspiration for modest Orthodox Jewish woman) but maintains it is because she is real, easy going and tells it as it is.

And that she does when she speaks out about her comparison to Kim Kardashian.

'Whatever she’s done, it’s worked

'But I do things differently. I’m in fashion. I’m in New York. I’m in London. And I’m in the rest of Europe. She’s LA.

'Our careers are very different. Hers is very much entertainment and working with different brands; and mine is more working on the editorial fashion side, incorporating the luxury market and the modelling aspect of brands,' she told the magazine.

Her love life is in full swing too and she and her 30-something German
model boyfriend Johannes Huebl, also known as 'Joe Hotness,' have been together for four years
and their relationship is clearly still going strong with her revealing they are keen to buy an apartment in London soon.
