There’s only one band that music lovers are talking about at the moment and that is Niki and the Dove.
Hailing from Stockholm and with a BBC Sound Poll nomination already up their sleeve, the threesome released their debut album Instinct this week and have already had an overwhelming response.
The sonic and visual flair that singer Malin Dahlstrm, keyboardist Gustaf Karlf and drummer Magnus Bqvist bring is stripped back to its brilliant essence in the second single from their first record, The Drummer.

Being talked about: Niki and the Dove have received a great response after releasing their debut album Instinct this week
The band recently recorded an exclusive performance of the track for Bands in Transit, a trend that has already seen musicians such as Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks and Bombay Bicycle Club jump on the back of a van and perform their much-loved songs acoustically.
However, when Instinct was released on May 14, the band were not in a Transit van but were instead on a train to Paris with their phones switched off.
‘We didn't see any response until the day after,’ they told the MailOnline. ‘But the response we got in contact with was very positive. Thanks everybody out there for your support.’
Niki and the Dove went on to explain that the response from music lovers in the UK has been fairly similar to that in their homeland, Sweden.
‘Maybe the difference has been that the British are more self-confident regarding what to think about music. Sweden must think a little bit first before having an opinion,’ they said.
Bands in Transit: The band did a special performance of their single The Drummer recently
The group are currently enjoying a UK tour which has seen them play in Southampton and Brighton among other cities, but unfortunately their London show had to be cancelled due to Malin falling ill and being advised by a doctor not to sing.
‘We are really sad about that,’ the band added. ‘But the doctor gave the order, and that is that no sound is to come out of Malin’s mouth!’
However, the band plan to ‘play, play, play’ for the rest of the year and are also hoping to have time to write some new music.
‘Writing music is very fun we think. It makes you feel alive. We strongly recommend it!’
