It was the scene that shocked audiences and cemented Sharon Stone's place in cinematic history.

And now Nicole Kidman looks to be having her own Basic Instinct moment in her upcoming film The Paperboy.

The actress, 44, is pictured in newly released movie stills wearing a short dress and sitting with her legs wide apart.

With her mouth open, Nicole, wearing heels and with blonde bombshell hair, leans forward provocatively.

Her male co-stars, including Matthew
McConaughey, avert their gazes from Nicole, while younger counterpart
Zac Efron stares outright.

Just like Basic Instinct, The Paperboy is being described as an 'explosive sexual thriller.'

Kidman sheds her usual 'English rose' look of fair skin and red hair, for a golden tan, heavy make-up and a platinum wig.

Her incredibly short dress shows off endless legs and her lacy bra straps.

Unsurprisingly, Efron has described his love scenes with the Australian star as the 'highlight of my life.'

He
said: 'Nicole is so gorgeous. It was everything you dreamed of. She was
such a lovely person. I pinched myself everyday, especially after doing
love scenes with Nicole Kidman.

'It
was the highlight of my life. Nicole was something else and was always
in character. She didn’t get weird method, like some actors do, but I
have never seen anyone so centred.'

The Paperboy tells the story of Jack James, played by Efron – the son of the Moat County Tribune's editor and publisher.

While Jack's older brother, Ward, reports for the Miami Times, Jack has settled for a job delivering papers for the Tribune.

But
when Ward and his partner, evil dandy Yardley Acheman, come to Moat
County to investigate the four-year-old murder of the local sheriff,
Jack assists them in the inquiry.

Nicole, meanwhile, stars as Charlotte
Bless in the movie – a woman who writes letters to death row inmates
amd who is having a correspondence with the murder suspect, played by
John Cusack.

The movie is based on the novel by Peter Dexter, who wrote the screenplay for Mulholland Falls.

The
movie also stars McConaughey as Ward James, and Zac added that
he was looking forward to seeing the actor's performance in the movie.

He
said: 'I think there’s going to be some performances in there—Nicole
Kidman and Matthew McConaughey and John Cusack—that are pretty
extraordinary. So I’m really pumped, pretty pumped.

'It’s
not going to be what you’d expect. It’s different. It’s going to be a
cool film. I can’t wait to see it. Lee Daniels, our director, is a
genius, and he brings some funk and some groove into this movie.'

The Paperboy is slated for release in late 2012.
