No more late nights, Grimmers! Nocturnal Nick Grimshaw swaps celeb parties for early nights as he lands Radio 1 breakfast slot

Nick Grimshaw has landed the one of the most coveted jobs in broadcasting after being named as Chris Moyles' successor on the Radio 1 breakfast show.
But it'll be quite a change for the nocturnal presenter, who is well-known partying with his celebrity friends.
At 27, Grimshaw is better suited to attracting the younger audience that Radio 1 so desperately needs.

Although Moyles was a sprightly 29 when he was hired to host the breakfast show in January 2004, his listeners appear to have aged with him, with the average being aged 33.
In a report last month, the BBC Trust found the station needed to work harder to attract more under 30s.
So with an established youth audience thanks to his T4 presenting and his celebrity social life, will the DJ reach the Beeb's younger target audience.
Announcing his appointment, new Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper hinted that age was a deciding factor in hiring Grimshaw, who currently presents the late night slot on the station.
Not giving anything away! Grimshaw was sworn to secrecy as he hosted Bacardi's 150th birthday party in East London last night
He said: 'Nick is a great broadcaster with a
passion for music and a mischievous sense of humour, which has made him a
hit with our listeners.
'He will be an excellent host for Radio 1’s new
breakfast show, bringing a new generation of listeners with him.'
Manchester-born Grimshaw, aka Grimmers to his friends, was brought up in nearby Oldham as the youngest of three brothers.
As a student at University of Liverpool, he presented a show on the student radio station.
Congratulations: Grimshaw received plenty of well wishes from his celebrity friends following the announcement
After graduating in 2005 with a
first, Grimshaw moved to London and secured work as a radio plugger and
DJ promoter and becoming an intern at MTV.
When he was 22, he was asked to do a screen test for Channel 4, by a producer who remembered him at Glastonbury.
landing presenting gigs on E4 Music and Channel 4 early morning show
Freshly Squeezed, he scored his first BBC gig, hosting BBC2 show Switch
with Annie Mac.
He managed to balance careers with both Channel 4 and BBC, hosting T4 on Channel 4 on weekends.
Tragic: Grimshaw was saddened by the death of his friend Amy Winehouse last year
His new gig won't come as a complete shock to Grimshaw though after he briefly hosted Radio 1's weekend breakfast show from August 2008 until May 2009.
His morning slot means he will now leave his 10pm-midnight weekday show, which he has hosted since 2009.
Aside from his work, Grimshaw is a regular in the tabloids and weekly magazine.
Although the stories are rarely centred on him, he is a partner-in-crime to celeb pals Pixie and Peaches Geldof, Kate Moss, Kelly Osbourne, Lily Allen, Jameela Jamil and Sadie Frost on nights out.

his social life, Grimshaw has a strong work ethic and once admitted it
was difficult partying with friends who didn't have to get up for work
the next day.
He told the Guardian: 'Some of my
friends, they don't really work, it doesn't matter if they're hungover.
I'd go out, get p**sed and then go to work and be like, What am I doing
now I've cut down on the drinking and I feel more positive. I like
broadcasting and I love music. It's a fun job and it's a stupid job and
that's fine with me.'
of today's big announcement, Grimshaw was partying with all his
presenter pals at the Bacardi's 150th birthday party in London's Village
Underground last night.
Long friendship: A blonde Grimshaw, pictured in 2008, was friends with model Agyness Deyn before finding fame
Among those in attendance were Jamil, Caroline Flack, Gemma Cairney, Pixie and Will Best.
After he was announced as Moyles' successor today, his friends all rushed to Twitter to congratulate him.
Pixie tweeted: 'I'm currently the most proud person in life @grimmers #R1 I loveeeeeee.'
Flack added: 'Bloody well done @grimmers . So so good at his job and a also really nice guy xxx.'
