Naomi Campbell made a surprise appearance at New York Fashion Week by walking the catwalk in Zac Posen's show.
The supermodel took to the runway at the Lincoln Centre wearing a red and cream flower print dress from the American designer's spring/summer 13 collection.
Model Coco Rocha, who also took part in the show, had Tweeted earlier in the day that she 'secrets to spill later' in reference to Campbell's appearance.
Strutting her stuff: Naomi Campbell took to the catwalk in a pretty flower print silk dress
Star turn: The crowd were amazed when Campbell stepped out on the runway first to model Posen's spring/summer collection
Queen of the runway: The supermodel was picture perfect
She later wrote 'I told you I had a big surprise tonight' after Campbell made her appearance.
The audience, which included Kelly
Osbourne and Alexa Chung on the front row, gasped in amazement as Campbell stepped
out onto the catwalk first after a fashionably late start to the show.
She walked down the runway to the
jazz song 'Sunday Kind of Love' in the pretty flowered dress followed by
models Erin O’Connor, Karolina Kurkova and Alek Wek.
Stunning: Model Coco Rocha stole the limelight back from Campbell in this elaborate tiered dress
Bridal chic: The organza gown could be worn to walk down the aisle
Dramatic: The cream dress had ruffle detailing and a full bodied skirt
Campbell's appearance coincided with
her joining Twitter. She took to the social networking site shortly
before her entrance writing 'About to walk the @ZacPosen show at
#NYFW…you ready for me'
She later tweeted a pictured of herself with Joan Rivers at the event.
But while Campbell may have been the
most famous face on the catwalk, Rocha stole the show when she stepped
out in a tiered, organza gown.
I do: Brides will be clamouring for styles similar to these exquisite gowns
Little mermaid: This green gown with a silk bodice and tulle skirt was one of the stand-out pieces
The ruffled bodice with full-bodied
skirt dominated the runway in the show's finale. The beautiful gown will
no doubt be coveted by A-listers who want to stand out on the red
carpet while it would also work as a dramatic wedding dress.
The cream creation was the last of
Posen's stunning evening gowns to be displayed. Others included a green
mermaid-like number with a corseted silk bodice and full tulle skirt and
an ivory strapless gown with flower print detail in the skirt that
would also suit a blushing bride.
Praise: Vogue UK said Posen 'outdid himself' with his elegant eveningwear collection
Strapless creations: Satin, silk and tulle ruffles were key trends in the collection
Red carpet ready: A-listers will want to squeeze into flattering pieces like this strapless patterned gown
There were also fitted short dresses with frill details and peplum gowns in the much-anticipated collection.
The range was met with approval from fashion experts and bloggers who praised the designer's 'stunning' look.
