'Dad has always been my hero': Lorraine Kelly reveals exclusive shots from the family album to celebrate Father's Day

One of the nation's best-loved TV hosts Lorraine Kelly has told for the first time how a strong bond with her father John helped shape her life.
While he became a parent at the age of 18, she says he made every effort to ensure that her and her younger brother Graham never went without.
And to celebrate Father's Day she has released two previously unseen images from the family album offering an intimate glimpse into the family dynamics.

The first vintage shot reveals Lorraine as a baby, being tenderly craddled in her father's arms at the family home in Glasgow.
While the second, taken on her wedding day in 1992, shows Lorraine happy and relaxed as her father stands proudly at her side.
The 52-year-old, mother-of-one said: 'My
dad has always been my hero.
'He and my mum were only 18 when they had
me, and they made a lot of sacrifices and worked really hard to ensure
that me and my younger brother never wanted for anything'

Lorraine and her family split their time between London and Dundee
And she describes one of her favourite childhood memories as watching Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon on July 20 in 1969, with her dad by her side.
'My dad loves science and astronomy
and some of my earliest memories are sitting in front of the black and
white TV watching The Sky At Night and The Twilight Zone.
'When I was five he bought me a telescope and I've been fascinated by the night sky ever since.

to mind straightaway,' she added.
Lorraine originally left home to read
English and Russian at university, but instead went on to secure a job on the East Kilbride News.
She has since moved into broadcasting, hosting numerous shows including This Morning, LK Today and Lorraine.
The ITV presenter shared her ‘My Dad Moments’ as part of a Boots initiative asking Brits to pay tribute to dads all over the country.
