She famously lost an incredible 30 pounds in 2009 after deciding that carrying around extra weight was having a detrimental effect on her health.

At the time, Tyra Banks was vehement that it had nothing to do with wanting to look thin and had been equally vociferous about defending her curvier form.

At the time, Tyra Banks was vehement
that it had nothing to do with wanting to look thin and had been equally
vociferous about defending her curvier form.

But three years later and the
38-year-old seems to be taking her healthy regime a bit too far, as she
looked worryingly gaunt on the red carpet for the CW Summer Tour at the
Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

It perhaps didn't help that the
America's Top Model star was wearing black… but the effect was most
noticeable around her beautiful face.

When she first lost the weight, the star revealed she'd ditched fattening carbs on her hit CW hit The Tyra Banks Show.

She talked about how she shed weight
without losing her '34DD boobies and her round booty,' but those curves
have been whittled away since then.

Banks said she took her weight off gradually with 'no radical diets, no shakes, no starvation.'

She told fans that she now lived by
the principal of eschewing 'love em and leave em carbs' and filling up
on 'fiberlicious foods.'

'This is not a diet. I do not believe
in diets. I have been on diets in the past. They are a bunch of
bologna. This is a lifestyle change. It's not about being skinny. It's
about being in the best shape you can be,' she said in a statement.

The 5'10' model had proudly flaunted
her curves when she weighed 161 pounds, 30 pounds more than she did for
her famous 1997 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover.

But she gradually suffered with exhaustion so decided to take action.

'It had become harder to carry the extra weight around,' she admitted.

Perhaps a busy love life is keeping her trim.

Last month it was reported that Tyra is dating the 24-year-old British boxer-turned-model Robert Evans after she fired her judging panel and hired him in a show re-jig for the new season of the CW show.

She then tweeted a picture of them together in the Jamaican sea, though he wasn't by her side tonight.
