At most weddings you expect the mother-of-the bride to get emotional as her daughter walks down the aisle but sometimes the groom can't hold back the tears either.

Lead singer of McFly, Tom Fletcher has admitted he became rather emotional as he watched Giovanna Falcone walk towards him on their big day earlier this month.

The singer, 26, and his actress bride, 27, tied the knot at One Marylebone, a 19th century, Grade I listed former church, on May 12 as their famous friends and family looked on.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Tom said: 'I just lost it. I’m such a crier. We both cried during the proposal, I had a lump in my throat but I just about managed to get through it.'

As Giovanna walked down the aisle to Over The Rainbow, which was played on the violin by Harry Judd's now fiance Izzy Johnston, Tom broke down in tears.

Speaking before he said I do, Tom admitted that he was excited about saying his vows.

'I’m looking forward to the ceremony because you put so much into planning the evening party that you can forget what the ceremony will be like, but saying your vows is the crucial bit,' he said.

Guests at the wedding included TOWIE star Mario Falcone – who is Giovanna's brother – and his girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh, Fearne Cotton and her partner Jesse Wood, and Busted star Matt Willis and his wife Emma.

Of course the McFly boys, Harry, Dougie Poynter and Danny Jones acted as Tom's best men, and former EastEnders star Kara Tointon was a bridesmaid.

However, Tom may have found himself blushing as his band mates delivered a funny, and at times, rather cheeky, speech.

But as they praised Tom's successes, they were met with a round of applause and then asked for a separate clap for Toms chin.

The speech continued as the threesome recounted the story about Tom auditioning for boy band Busted before being in McFly, but was turned down.

Dougie then weaved through the tables to former Busted star Matt Willis, saying: ‘Maybe Matt can tell us why!’

The trio then divulged some saucy secrets that OK! magazine have deemed too rude to print, but they ended on a less cheeky note.

‘When people talk about childhood sweethearts, Tom and Gi are the genuine article,' Harry said.

‘We’d like to finish off by saying that you two bring out the best in each other,' Danny added. 'People say that opposites attract but you disprove that. You really are the best of mates and that’s why we know that this true love story will last forever.’

Tom and Giovanna are currently on their honeymoon and have been updating their fans and followers about married life via their Twitter pages.
