Mary Portas' heavily pregnant partner Melanie Rickey hospitalised with broken ankle

She's gearing up to give birth to her first child in the near future.
But Mary Portas' civil partner Melanie Rickey found herself in hospital earlier than she anticipated after breaking her ankle in a fall.
The fashion journalist, 39, will need an operation after breaking her ankle in three places after hurting herself at the couple's London home.

She tweeted yesterday: 'Had a very good day and a very bad day
today: passed Theory Test, then I broke my ankle in three places. Words
fail other than that.'
When a Twitter follower suggested her centre of gravity was now disrupted by her heavily pregnant stage, she replied: 'You can say that again! One leg and a bump, that's me.'
She went on to reveal she would need an operation to repair the damage: 'Yes 🙁 screws/plates n everyfing (sic).'
Melanie and retail expert Mary, 52, are expecting their first child together very soon.

Although the due date hasn't been revealed, the pregnancy was confirmed in a special fashion supplement in The Times newspaper to celebrated the end of London Fashion week back in February.
The columnist, who works for Grazia, met Mary nine years ago and entered into a civil partnership in 2010.
It has been reported that Miss Rickey
conceived after having IVF, but it is not clear whether they used an
anonymous sperm donor or whether the donor is known to the couple.
Mary was previously married to chemical engineer Graham Portas, with
whom she has two children, Mylo, 18, and 16-year-old Verity.
divorced in 2003 before she met Miss Rickey at a dinner
held at the Royal College of Art.
