Their fashion label The Row has long attracted high praise but Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have now been named America's best designers.

The 25-year-old twins were awarded the Womenswear Designer Of The Year award at the 2012 Council Of Fashion Designers Of America Awards held in New York earlier tonight.

Their high-end fashion label beat out fellow nominees, and previous winners of the award, Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.

Their luxury line, which includes clothing and accessories, was established in 2006.

It serves as a massive coup for the pair, who attended the event staged at Lincoln Center with actress Lauren Hutton.

The twins, who rarely allow photographers to snap them with smiles on their faces, managed to squeeze out smirks on the red carpet as a flood of industry heavyweights and Hollywood starlets came out to witness the annual Awards.
