When it comes to the bond between a man and his dog, few women can compete – even if they are the future Queen.

But she had to play second fiddle as the Duke of Cambridge shared a tender moment with his beloved Cocker Spaniel puppy Lupo.

Kate eagerly watched from the sidelines as the duke competed.
But when it was all over and William dismounted, she was forced to look on as he swept Lupo into his arms and showered the six-month-old with kisses.
