She's been voted the sexiest woman of the decade and is always pictured looking effortlessly beautiful despite being a busy mother-of-two. So what's Louise Redknapp's secret
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Louise admitted she struggles to follow the age old beauty tricks of drinking lots of water and getting to bed at 9pm.
But the former popstar does have some secret weapons in her beauty arsenal in the form of a new cosmetics range she's launched with her friend, Kim Jacob, an international make-up artist.
Beauty business: Louise Redknapp has launched her own cosmetics range Wild About Beauty
Their Wild About Beauty range includes serums, lipsticks and eye-shadows which have natural ingredients and are paraben free.
Louise said the range came about following the birth of her first son, Charley, when she developed pigmentation on her skin, sometimes know as a 'pregnancy mask'.
She said: 'After having your first child, it's a
massive shock to the system. I work in an industry where people judge
you and the way you look and you always want to put your best
foot forward when you can.
Partnership: The range has been developed with make-up artist Kim Jacob, left, who likes to use products with natural ingredients
'I was worried people might notice and it
could be spoken about. If you feel uncomfortable about something, just
because you're in the public eye, it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt when
people say things.
'It made me quite self-conscious and because I don't like to wear heavy make-up, I lost the will to cover it up.'
Louise then met Kim on a photoshoot who taught her about light, natural products that could leave her with smooth-looking skin without having to pile on layers of foundation. Louise loved the look so much, she decided to develop her own range with Kim.
Busy mum: Louise developed the range with Kim following the birth of her son, Charley, when she suffered from pigmentation on her skin
'I realised that a lot of women felt the same way I did – they didn't want to wear heavy make-up but for whatever reason, there were elements in their skin they want to smooth out or cover,' Louise said.
The enterprise is a business for Louise, who is married to former footballer Jamie Redknapp, and not just something she's endorsing. Even though that means it comes with extra pressure and stresses, Louise said it's something she wanted to do because the life of a WAG sitting at home is not for her.
'I like to work, I like to be creative,' she explained. 'I work in the entertainment industry where work may come up and it may not so I wanted to do something proactive. I've got a brain, I don't want to just sit at home, I want to do as much as I can.'
As well as Charley, aged eight, Louise and Jamie also have son Beau, three, so Louise has to juggle her work with the school run.
From the school run to the red carpet: Louise has two children with husband Jamie so needs make-up that can be applied quickly and easily
This has helped her develop products that she feels are perfect for other busy mums because they can be applied quickly and easily – and are also affordable.
She said: 'I have a busy life. I might be taking the children to school in the morning and going to dinner with friends in the evening so I wanted a make-up that performs.
'I often have to do my make-up while I'm
in the car after the school run and on my way to a meeting so I wanted make-up that's really
easy and multi-purpose.'
Louise said the multi-purpose tint, 'Lynne', in the Wild About Beauty range, which is available from House of Fraser, Debenhams and online at Wild About Beauty, fits the bill because it can be used as a blusher on the cheeks or to add colour to the lips or eye lids by application with the fingers.
'You don't need to spend a fortune on looking good,' Louise said. 'If
you buy wisely, you shouldn't have more than about five pieces in your
make-up bag. Get products that you can multi-purpose with and don't
worry about getting lots of different brushes to apply it with.'
Louise's picks: Sheer glow moisture tint, left, nourishes skin while covering imperfections, multi-purpose tint lynne, centre, can be used on the eyes, cheeks and lips and mattifying skin perfector, right, reduces shine
She also thinks it's important to
moisturise, which is why the range includes a number of serums which can
be applied pre-make-up or at night as well as tinted moisturisers which
nourish the skin as well as covering any imperfections.
But aside from time-saving products, Louise believes the best anti-ageing tips she can give to people is to be confident and to concentrate on looking healthy and good for their age.
She said: 'Everyone around me is getting older – my friends, my husband, my family. Rather than looking young, I think it's important to look healthy and as good as you can and to look after yourself.
'I'm 37, I want to look the best I can as a 37-year-old, I'm not interesting in looking 27 anymore. I just want to feel confident and look after myself the best I can.'
