Louise Redknapp is ditched from Something for the Weekend line-up as co-hosts move channels with new show
TV bosses have obviously lost their appetite for Louise Redknapp.
The Something for the Weekend host has been ditched from the culinary show's presenting line-up as it moves channels and changes names.
And while Louise has been given the axe, her co-hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer are getting their own new show.
No Sunday Brunch for Louise: Mrs Redknapp has been ditched from the
Something for the Weekend presenting line-up for new Channel 4 show
The male presenters, who appeared together on Something for the Weekend from 2006, are to front a brand new programme which is moving from BBC2 to Channel 4.
Labelled Sunday Brunch the show will take a similar format to their former series, with a number of celebrity guests and cookery elements.
Producers have described the show as a programme 'packed to the brim
with celebrity guests, super tasty cookery and all the wit, chat and
banter needed to see you through a Sunday morning.'
Louise joined the show in 2010, taking place of Amanda Hamilton who was the original female anchor when it first launched.
Throughout the series the wife of
footballer Jamie Redknapp would interview stars while questioning Simon
on his culinary treats.
Grin and bear it: Louise joined the programme in 2010 but has not been picked to join her two co-hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer on a new show
But earlier this year it was announced that BBC bosses were axing the show following six years on air.
And while Tim and Simon have now been offered a new programme, Louise has been left out of the new line-up.
Although it appears no female is set to take her place in the revamped format as only the two presenters have been drafted in.
A representative for the new show tells the MailOnline: 'We felt that the partnership between Tim and Simon needed to be at the heart of the new show which is why they will be the two hosts.'
And despite Louise's departure, both Tim and Simon are pleased they'll still be working together.
In a joint statement they say: 'We're chuffed to be joining Channel 4. We have a great laugh working together and we're very pleased we can continue that in our new home.'
Delight: Despite losing his female co-star, Tim tweeted his happiness that he and Simon Rimmer would still be working together
Dominic Bird, Head of Formats, Channel 4, adds: 'Simon and Tim have brilliant on screen chemistry and their partnership will be at the heart of Sunday Brunch.
'They're a great fit for Channel 4 and we can't wait to get going on the new show.'
And it will be a relief to Rimmer, who revealed earlier this month he wasn't ready to hang up his Something for the Weekend shoes just yet.
He told the Radio Times just a few days ago: 'It doesn’t feel like it’s time for it to go. I’ve done other long-running shows and when they’ve finally come to an end I’ve thought, ‘It’s probably about time, we’ve had our day’, but with Something for the Weekend, I feel like we’re just getting into our stride.'
And he's already shown his excitement for the new show by writing on his Twitter page earlier today: 'I'm so excited. @timlovejoy and I are going to present a new show on channel 4 every Sunday from end March #Sundaybrunch x'
And Tim is also pleased their 'bromance' can continue and added: 'Thanks for all your messages. @simonrim and I are very happy gentlemen #Sundaybrunch #bromancecontinues.'
