A furious Louis Walsh has hit back at Cheryl Cole's accusations he didn't manage Girls Aloud, claiming he's a 'better manager than she is a singer'.
The Irish music manager, who looked after Girls Aloud for three years following their manufacture on Popstars: The Rivals, hit out at his former X Factor colleague's singing talent.
The 59-year-old also goes on to accuse her of trying to get publicity for her many endorsements by criticising him.
No love lost: Louis Walsh has hit out at Cheryl Cole for her criticisms of his managing style
Walsh's outburst comes after Cole told the new issue of Marie Claire magazine: 'Louis claimed to be our manager, but he never did it.
'We didn’t talk to him or anything like that. He just took a cheque.
'Louis had zero involvement… We managed ourselves. He never chose a hit. Who chose them Us.'
However, Walsh has hit back at Cole for becoming more famous for her fashion ventures – such as being the face of L'Oreal or her StylistPick shoe collection – than her singing career.
Self-sufficient Cole claims she and her Girls Aloud bandmates (L-R) Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh managed themselves
He tells the new issue of Heat magazine: 'What is she peddling this time
Eyelashes or hairspray It’s definitely not her music!
'At least I am
still on The X Factor and happy to be there. I’m a much better manager
than she is a singer. She seems to be in the fashion business now,
selling fake hair pieces, fake eyelashes, fake everything.'
With a successful career managing
Westlife, Boyzone and G4, Walsh believes he is well-placed to give a
critique of Cole's singing.
He continued: 'Has anyone ever heard her sing live
or a cappella If she comes back on The X Factor, she needs to sing live
Feud: Cheryl and Louis argued on a 2010 episode of The X Factor when he accused her of being attention-seeking
'I don’t know why she’s started this war with me. I’ve always
liked her – she’s a very good-looking girl, but obviously not the best
singer in Girls Aloud. Nadine is – I always said that.
'Cheryl is a great clothes horse. Nice girl, but likes to get her own way. I’ve got two words to say: vocal lessons.'
Cheryl came under fire for miming Promise This and Fight For This Love on X Factor in 2009 and 2010.
Critics claimed it was a bit rich of her to criticise the contestants' live performances every week while failing to sing live herself.
