Her name is synonymous with beauty, grace and elegance.
But Lindsay Lohan's attempts to channel icon Elizabeth Taylor for a private dinner to celebrate the premiere of Liz & Dick on Tuesday evening could only be described as a style car crash.
Actress Lohan, who has already been given terrible reviews surrounding her performance playing the Hollywood screen legend in her new Lifetime biopic, stepped out in a rather shiny dress as she graced the red-carpet at the Beverly Hills hotel.
The trashy frock also at times bared her navel, and with it her silver belly-button ring.

Trashy: Lindsay Lohan slipped into this gold gown for a private dinner to celebrate the Lifetime premiere of Liz & Dick at Beverly Hills Hotel on Tuesday evening
Rear view: Lindsay's gown looked far better from behind, but even then the cheap looking material gathered in unsightly places
At first glance Lindsay's gold gown could have passed as tasteful, but on closer inspection the red dangling gems strategically placed in keyhole cut-outs cheapened the look.
Lindsay's further attempts at channelling the legendary Hollywood star meanwhile failed to save the look.
The actress paired the attire with a fur stole, which she desperately tried to sexily drape off her shoulders, just like Liz once did.

Lindsay's jewels would have also failed
to have impressed the late Taylor, who once famously received a whopping
68-carat diamond Cartier ring from her husband Richard Burton.
Lilo opted to wear just a mere pair of chandelier earrings in her ears.
The one thing Lindsay did get right was her make-up.
Her scarlet lips and bronzed glow
matched her russet locks and despite her pout looking a little smeared
towards the end of the night, it was a good look on the actress.
Liz & Dick has been billed by Lifetime as Lindsay's comeback movie role.
But an early review of the movie last week encouraged readers to watch the forthcoming featurette for all the wrong reasons.
The Hollywood Reporter critic Tim
Goodman likened Lohan's performance 'half train wreck, half SNL skit' in
his scathing recent review.
melodramatic performance opposite Grant Bowler, as the late actress'
husband Burton, hailed a vitriolic review of a film so 'spectacularly
bad' its almost unbelievable audiences could take it seriously.

as Taylor was a bad idea in the dramatic sense, but it’s pure genius
both for marketing and for belly laughs and drinking games,' Goodman
wrote in his review, musing on its unintentional comedic qualities and
comparing it to a high school play.
'Lohan is woeful as Taylor from start
to finish. But, whatever you do, don’t miss Liz & Dick. It’s an
instant classic of unintentional hilarity,' he continued, offering,
'Drinking games were made for movies like this.'

being one. Not even a star bright enough to transport you at least
halfway to believing she’s Elizabeth Taylor.'
David Hinckley of the New York Daily News meanwhile pointed out Lohan had the odds stacked against her.
'Maybe no re-enactment of their lives could replicate the scale on which those lives played out,' he wrote of Taylor and Burton.
tempting to say the movie's big problem is that Lohan is no Liz Taylor.
And she isn't – though that's not entirely her fault.
Beaming: The actress was certainly enjoying herself at the event to celebrate her new film
aren't all that many actresses, or women, who can stop a room simply by
walking into it,' he wrote, adding that Bowler 'comes closer to
Burton's rough, rugged charm'.
Lindsay herself opened up about the pressures of taking on the role in a video interview released in September.
Comparing herself to the Hollywood
legend, she said: 'I relate to her on a lot of levels — living in the
public eye, dealing with the stress of what other people say, whether
it’s true or not.'
Covering up: Throughout the course of the dinner, Lindsay slipped her stole over her shoulders
'I personally understand Liz, because you’re living your life for everyone to see, and people are growing with you.'
The review came on the heels of executive producer Larry Thompson applauding Lohan's performance.
Admittedly taking a risk by hiring the
star, known now more for her starring role in the tabloids over her
acting career, Thompson said he has no regrets about casting the lead
role to Lohan.

Meanwhile Lindsay also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday evening.
Hardly appropriate: Lindsay's belly button ring could be seen peeking out when she posed with her young co-stars Taylor Ann and Trevor Thompson

During her interview, the actress
told Leno that her decision to cancel her sit-down with Barbara Walters
and do Leno instead was because of 'timing issues'.
'It’s just, the timing wasn’t right, right now. I love her, and I’m a big fan of Barbara Walters,' she said.
'I met her when I was very young, and when it’s right, she knows she’ll be the first person I sit down with.'
The reviews are in: Early reviews of Lindsay's new film have been scathing
Walters had filmed half her interview with Lohan and was all set to complete it.
So the veteran presenter was stunned to receive a call saying Lohan 'wasn't up to' meeting her.
surprise only deepened when it emerged that the troubled actress had
instead agreed to appear on Leno to promote Liz & Dick.

Interview: Meanwhile, Lindsay appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday evening to promote the film
'I have a few things to say about Lindsay Lohan,' Walters told her co-hosts on The View last week.
'I like Lindsay Lohan very much. I've known her for years. She said whenever she did an interview, she'd do it with me.'
They filmed part one on the set of
Liz & Dick, earlier this year. Walters had then flown to Los Angeles
to film the second part when she received news that it was not going to
Opening up: She spoke about acting since the age of three and about why she cancelled her interview with Barbara Walters
Walters was preparing to film the second half of the interview ahead of the TV movie's broadcast this Sunday.
'Lindsay doesn't feel up to it,' Lohan's assistants told Walters.
'The punchline is, Lindsay Lohan is sitting for an interview with Jay Leno.'
