Katy Perry makes fun of husband Russell Brand with cheeky impersonation in Saturday Night Live trailer
Her husband Russell Brand is renowned for his cheeky chappy persona and affected mannerisms.
So when Katy Perry made a trailer to promote her first ever stint as guest host on Saturday Night Live, he was an obvious target for lampooning.
And the California Gurls singer made sure he was given a light-hearted ribbing when she impersonated him while she filmed the bit with show favourite Kenan Thompson.
Brand of authenticity: Katy Perry did her best impression of her husband Russell as part of the Saturday Night Live promotional trailer
After a bizarre rant about how he was being sent to Mars, the roly-poly comic raised the subject of her comedy star partner.
He asked her: “Did your husband Russell Brand give you any hosting tips”
Doing a truly woeful mockney accent and wildly gesticulating she replied: “Actually he said talk like this, and look like this and be a bit cheeky.”
However Kenan was obviously not very impressed, as he told her: “I wouldn”t do that.”
Not impressed: Kenan looked a little concerned after Katy delivered her woeful impersonation of her famous husband
Confused: Katy looked a bit nonplussed when Kenan burst into a fit of laughter as they filmed their trailer
The trailer was shot in the style of a sequence of bloopers, with each star showing off their comic chops.
In another part of the video Kenan challenges Katy, 27, to prove her acting chops by playing an “out of work mother who”s about to lose her home.
And when the singer, who was wearing a Victoria Beckham dress, delivers a toe-curlingly wooden couple of sentences he contrariantly replies: “Damn girl, you”re gonna make me cry.”
Perhaps the funniest exchange is when he is trying to learn how she spells the end of her first name, and continually tries to explain the reason he needs to know every time she answers “y.”
It then ends with a goofball black and white dancing sequence.

He looks imperial in leather: Russell donned a distinctive pair of trousers for his visit to a swanky eatery
Quite what Get Him to the Greek star Russell will make of his lampooning by his wife is anyone”s guess.
The hunky comic certainly looked unconcerned as he left a swanky Los Feliz, California restaurant in an eccentric outfit of sweater, woolen hat, leather trousers and white trainers.
But the supportive husband will surely be glued to the screen when she has her big night of comedy this weekend.
The pair have been dogged by conflicting rumours about their relationship recently, with some claiming they are on the verge of breaking up and others claiming they are going to have a child together.
