From bubblegum pop to Morticia Addams: Katy Perry ditches her cartoon costumes for sleek and sophisticated in Sydney

She's famous for her outlandish, cartoon taste in clothing.
But perhaps being Down Under, Katy Perry wanted to turn her usual style on its head too, and opted for a sleek, sophisticated, almost gothic look for a photoshoot in Sydney today.
The singer, 27, channelled Morticia Addams with her long black hair in a sever middle part and hanging poker straight down her back – with the Perry-esque addition of a purple tinge to her colour.

Katy wore a black satin dress with a lace neckline and black Christian Louboutin pumps.
She was posing for photographers ahead of the Sydney premiere of her film Katy Perry: Part Of Me.
Perhaps Katy was in a sombre mood today, as she revealed in an interview this week that her outfit reflects how she is feeling.

'My sense of style is like one of
those things that change colour with mood, always evolving,' Katy
recently told UK site Female First.
'When I get up, I choose my
outfit depending on my state of mind. If it is a “mixture of many
things” it is because I feel many different emotions at the same time,
to the point where you feel you almost have a split personality.'
Katy's film opens worldwide on July 5, with special preview screenings at 100 locations on July 2.
Promotional tour: Katy is Down Under to promote her film Katy Perry: Part Of Me
Following her promotional duties for the film, Katy is planning an 'extended break' from her career, according to the LA Times.
She's heading to 'a beautiful, unplugged place where there's not a lot going on, so I can get back and hopefully write some good songs. Take these damn extensions out of my hair and feel my head again, finally.'
'I'm gonna go into a cave after this,' she said at the LA premiere this week.
