Following her Twitter denial regarding rumours that she had an affair with David Beckham, Katherine Jenkins has suffered a backlash.
The singer received death threats from a web trolls on the micro-blogging site, and was reportedly so frightened she had to call the police.
According to The Sun a friend close to Jenkins said she sought after assistance from the police 'straight away' and was 'disgusted' by the messages.
Speaking to the newspaper her friend said: 'She was disgusted by the abuse because it was so sinister and scary.'
One message read: 'Honestly, and you all said my dislike of Katherine Jenkins was irrational (it is, and that b**** is getting cut if David and Posh split).'
Another abusive Twitter user wrote: 'I'll kill that s*** Katherine Jenkins'.
Jenkins' friend continued: 'When she saw the messages she straight away wanted to protect herself by getting police involved.
'The threat to ‘cut’ her got to her the most. That guy crossed the line.'
A spokesperson for the Welsh singer told the paper: 'Due to the serious nature of the threats, the tweets have been reported to the police.'
Putting her troubles behind her, today Katherine tweeted: 'Back to work #HappySaturday'.
The blonde accompanied the post with a picture of herself smiling as she sat on a stool in a recording studio.

Yesterday (Friday), Jenkins took to her Twitter page to blast rumours that she had an affair with David Beckham.
32-year-old told her fans that she found the reports 'hurtful
and untrue', and wanted to be the first to set the record straight.
It is unclear why Katherine chose today to refer to the revelations, but in doing so she drew many people's attention to the rumours they had previously not been aware of.

In a series of posts made on her page today, Katherine said she had only ever met David twice.
Katherine began: 'Dear
Twitter friends, I've read some horrible rumours on here & want u 2
know I absolutely deny I’ve had an affair with David Beckham.
'The rumours are very hurtful, untrue & my lawyers tell me actionable.'
She continued: 'I’ve only met David twice: once at the Military Awards in 2010 & on a night out in the West End in Feb 2012
'We were out in a group of friends
& it was just a normal fun evening out. Just so we are clear I have
never been on my own with him and never arranged to meet up.'
Meanwhile, a representative for Beckham has told the MailOnline: 'Unfortunately, we have to deal with this type of nonsense on Twitter.
'One minute David is dead… then a more scurrilous rumour, there is not one jot of truth to any of it.'

As well as the awards event in 2010, Katherine and David were both seen partying at the Arts Club in Mayfair alongside Prince Harry in early February.
The untrue rumours surrounding Katherine and David first emerged when she moved to Los Angeles to appear on Dancing With The Stars earlier this year.
There were even extraordinary claims that a superinjuction had been applied for to prevent the story ever being made public.
Shortly after Katherine's tweets, Lily Cooper took to her Twitter page to poke fun at the revelations, denying an 'affair' with Beyonc's husband Jay-Z.

Lily wrote: 'I'm really upset at the hurtful rumours

they are actionable.
'I've met him twice, once at the spotted pig in New York and once at the wireless festival. We have never been alone together etc etc.'
And now, as well as hitting headlines in the UK, Katherine's denial has made news throughout the world.
Katherine has been single since splitting from fianc Gethin Jones in December 2011.
The singer started dating former Blue Peter presenter Jones in 2007 after meeting him on the set of Strictly Come Dancing.

enjoying a family day out with wife Victoria and three of their
children, Romeo, Cruz and baby Harper, at a shopping mall in Los
