The designer has said in the past
that landing a placement with Alexander McQueen – and her subsequent
stellar success – came as somewhat of a surprise, given that she was a
retiring type at college.

'It’s funny, because I sometimes ask
that myself. I think maybe I was quite shy. I wasn't the trendiest girl
at college,' she has said in the past.
'I just loved what I was doing.'
