Kate Middleton commissions Lady Gaga"s milliner to design hat for jubilee celebrations

Will the Queen go Gaga Kate commissions pop star's favourite milliner to design hat for jubilee celebrations

Forget
Philip Treacy’s creation that so embarrassed Princess Beatrice at the
Royal Wedding.

The Duchess of Cambridge – who was crowned Hat Person Of The Year 2011 – has chosen an even more
outrageous milliner to make her latest hat.

Erotic
designer Piers Atkinson, whose 2010 collection Sex On The Brain
featured nudes in the linings and a Barbie doll riding a banana on the
crown, has been commissioned to make a titfer for Kate.

The commission is all the more surprising
because of Atkinson's very public disapproval of the royal family.

In
2010, the milliner told Fashion156.com that the Queen was one of his
five favourite hat wearers.

However, he added: 'I'd love to meet a royal socially –
imagine that inbred sense of superiority, generation after generation.

'Are they still Homo Sapiens I could ask a Queen this over a crumpet.'

Perhaps Catherine's stylish fashion choices have changed the way Atkinson now sees the family

Either way, his comments have not put the Duchess off his designs. Atkinson has been chosen to design a hat for one of Kate's most important engagements so far.

She will model one of the Norfolk-born's creations – beloved by eccentric pop divas Lady Gaga and Paloma
Faith – when she accompanies the Queen and Prince Philip to Leicester to
launch the Diamond Jubilee tour or for a visit with HM to upmarket
emporium Fortnum & Mason.

‘Unfortunately,
originality does tend to terrify the British,’ says Piers.

‘Outwardly
we’re all respectable, but we often have a naughty, repressed side to
our nature.’

So long as it doesn’t frighten the horses…
