She is the cheerful face that millions of people share their breakfast with each day as she presents from the sofa on Daybreak.

But behind the smile, Kate Garraway is yearning for something more: another child.

The 45-year-old presenter recently opened up about her urge for another child, saying: 'It is like a gnawing pain, this ache to
be pregnant; to experience again the extraordinary free-falling thrill
of giving birth and starting afresh with that blank sheet: a new life.'

And although she was concerned that people would find her demand selfish, she received a mass of support.

In an interview with new! magazine this week she said: 'I didn’t know whether I’d get people saying, “You stupid, greedy cow”, as obviously I’ve got a great job and two lovely kids.

'But I didn’t. I had so many tweets, emails and texts from people saying how they completely identified with it.'

In a candid article she wrote for the Mail recently Kate said: 'I have tried to quell the terrible
pang of regret and envy I feel every time I see a mum pushing a newborn
in a pram. But I fail.

'Instead, I rage against my diminishing fertility. I feel I’m stranded in limbo between fecund motherhood and the menopause.'

However, she admitted early mornings on Daybreak don't go hand in hand with raising a newborn baby.

'I
get up each weekday, as I have for years, at 2.30am, stumble out of bed
— usually stubbing my toe on a Lego brick or falling over a rollerskate
— and set off for the studio.

'Frankly I’m knackered. Bring a new baby into the mix and I’m sure that I’d be practically delirious with fatigue.'

Kate, who already has two children
with 45-year-old husband Derek Draper, also explained how Derek doesn't share
her desire but would be happy if there was a new addition to the
family.

'I don’t want to reveal too much, but I do keep hoping for a little miracle,' she told the magazine.
