Much happier in real life! Kara Tointon leaves her moody look behind to enjoy the press night of Absent Friends
Her latest role sees her play a moody 1970's housewife, but luckily Kara Tointon is far from that in reality.
The 28-year-old actress was sporting a large grin following the press night of Absent Friends – the play she is currently starring in.
Kara was joined by her sister Hannah as she mingled at the after party which was held at London restaurant Mint Leaf.
Supporting my sibling: Kara Tointon was joined by her younger sister Hannah at the press night for Absent Friends
The former EastEnders star looked effortlessly glamorous in a pair of grey skinny jeans and a leaf-print cardigan.
The long garment matched Kara's peach-coloured top perfectly and featured tassled fringe detail at the bottom.
She completed the look with a pair of black suede ankle boots and appeared to be wearing minimal make-up.
Her younger sister played it safe in an all-black outfit that consisted of a dress, tights and a leather biker jacket.
Effortlessly cool: The actress wore skinny jeans and an unusual cardigan for the after party at London restaurant Mint Leaf
Facing the snow: Kara seemed keen to get home when she stepped out in the cold weather
The blonde star was obviously keen to support her sibling and smiled for the cameras next to her.
Kara was later seen leaving the venue wearing a long black mac to cover up in the snow.
Absent Friends sees her take on the role of Evelyn, who is to blame for the rest of the cast's discontent.
Directed by Jeremy Herrin and produced by Sonia Friedman, the play follows a couple who throw a tea party to console a friend whose fiance has died, but Evelyn hasn't got a good word to say about anyone.
Perfectly moody: Kara dons blue bell bottoms and a white polo neck to play 1970's housewife Evelyn in Absent Friends
Kara appears to portray the miserable look rather well, and is far from her glamorous self on the stage.
Wearing a tight white polo neck jumper with navy blue bell bottom trousers, the actress' hair is flicked into a Seventies style while even her jewellery is nothing to be desired as she dons a brown beaded chain.
In character: Kara acts alongside Reece Shearsmith in the play which is showing at London's Harold Pinter Theatre
She appears alongside Elizabeth Berrington, Katherine Parkinson, Reece Shearsmith, David Armand and Steffan Rhodri in the play.
Absent Friends is currently showing at London's Harold Pinter Theatre and will run until April 14.
