Mickey Drexler's transformation of fashion megabrands including Gap, Ann Taylor and currently J Crew have made him a very rich man indeed.
So it is little surprise that the Bronx-born CEO's new Manhattan pied-a-terre is something special.
The 6,226sq ft Tribeca loft, in a landmark building, is said to have been purchased for well over the $13.5million asking price after a fierce bidding war, according to Curbed.
Hot property: J Crew CEO Mickey Drexler has just purchased a huge Tribeca loft, for a figure that is rumoured to be well over the $13.5million asking price, after a fierce bidding war
Spacious: The centrepiece of the loft apartment is a vast 100ft reception space, with views across the city through large arched windows to the east and south
While the decor does not exactly share the preppy J Crew aesthetic, it is impressively appointed with luxury fittings throughout.
There are four bedrooms, each with
en-suite bathrooms, as well as a 'staff room', a library, and a kitchen
worthy of a Michelin-star chef.
The centrepiece, though, is a vast 100ft reception space, with views across the city through large arched windows to the east and south.
Fine dining: The reception leads onto a dining area, which shares the same impressive views across Tribeca

The kitchen is accessed via both the media room and the dining area, and boasts luxury Varenna fittings and a 150-bottle wine cave to keep all of Mr Drexler's vintage bottles in mint condition.
It has a generously-sized range cooker, a prep area and even its own separate pantry room for extra storage.
Just one of the bedrooms is pictured
by the real estate agent, Halstead Property, but, as the master, it is certainly impressive, and
offers a taste of what the others might look like.
Situated in a separate part of the apartment from the other bedrooms, for privacy, it also boasts huge windows, which
hopefully are not overlooked.
It has an adjoining Bisazza mosaic-tiled
bathroom with jacuzzi tub, as well as a large walk-in closet.
The Tribeca loft, which is not located
far from the home J Crew colleague Jenna Lyons is currently renting,
joins an impressive portfolio of properties.
Mr Drexler has a $20million apartment on
Park Avenue, and famously purchased Eothen, Andy Warhol's Montauk
estate in 2007 for $30million.
According to Vanity Fair, he also owns a further two homes on Long Island and a property on Harbour Island in the Bahamas.

Mr Drexler was recently the subject of a CNBC special entitled 'The Man Who Dressed America'. The documentary, which follows him from his office to stores to Italian factory floors, hails him the 'king of retail'.
It shed light on some of the secrets to his success, such as his obsessive attention to detail, micromanagement and instincts for what the customer wants.
